Personally, my concern doesn't rest with G4 lacking talent or the great unquantifiable 'X', that i believe them to have in bucket-loads; my fear is that they have a mentor who is priding himself on having been able to think 'outside of the box' [*begs forgiveness for the use of a horridly over-used term *] enough to make them one of his three BUT (very important 'BUT') is now trying to climb back into the box and take G4 with him.

G4 ARE unquestionably the greater vocalists and interpretative vocal talent within the line-up. The breadth and scope of the potential they offer ought to be a gift, week in week out, to LW...the opportunity their natural talent offers to wide-ranging exploitation by LW is immense...

G4's success rests on whether LW has the courage to do more than punt them as singing left-field arrangements of soft-rock/indie classics. For LW to even touch than genre is beyond his previous ken...he's more comfortable producing MOR boy-band...LW appears to feel he's taken G4 far enough away from that which he knows...BUT G4 have the range to be taken much further.

LW needs to allow G4 to explore the full range, breadth and depth their inate vocal makes possible...i want to hear them adapted to much heavier rock instrumental accompaniment one week...taking on something disco (beatbox) the next...give them a romantic ballad with full orchestra...make them find their R&B...and give us that big-band jazz/lounge...

They have the potential range to give us it all...with a quirk...LW is too convential to see that?!

G4 , vocally and as an entity, will never do themselves a disservice...LW may.”

Echo that entirely and nicely articulated too.

Here's hoping one of Louis' gang reads it.

Fair enough, blame Louis Walsh... G4 still stink.

I think their finest hour was Bohemian Rhapsody at the auditions.Tonight I thought they were dire and was surprised they weren't in the bottom two.

Well said, my sentiments too (and with a passion it seems )

Louis is giving G4 the songs that he stupidly thinks will endear them to an imagined audience that exists largely in his own mind...

G4 on the other hand have the talent and the skills (as their supporters keep pointing out) to make a decent stab at covering these songs in their own style but for some reason keep on putting in a disastrous (IMO) performance and make themeselves look like complete arseholes.

Maybe they are talented but stupid?

I really can't stand G4. Especially the way the blonde one stares into the camera through his nose when he sings a high note - it's horrible!

I think that's unlikely. It does take a certain amount of brain power to understand the complexities of music theory, which they undoubtedly had to do as part of their courses at the Guildhall.

Fact is, we don't know what sort of contract they're under, or how much say they actually have.

It was an Oasis song! Ok it wasn't Liam 'Johnny one note' Gallagher they were aping but his slightly more musically proficient brother Noel... but come on dude

Ah but of course you may, my sweet...in much the same way as i'll begin to worry [aherm, when sober...it'll be sometime in the next 24, honest guv ] i'll have to find a way to deny Teri's accusations of the um...erm...'clusterbomb'

Haha...even my 11yr old felt herself being a little won around by G4 tonight (AND no, i didn't make her pocket-money conditional )...She's a big Cassie supporter and wants her t be allowed t have an 'edge' by SO...On that, i don't know why SO is trying to create a 30yr old diva out of a 17yr old [may be for another thread, soz].

Overall, bizarrely, it appears SC is the mentor with the fewest pigeon-holes...that may be because of his category or foresight [?]...

G4 are so much better than a LW boyband and i hope he realizes that before it's too late.

Well they may not of been able to choose the song but they did admit to doing the arrangement. This is what let them down, it showed that they had a very limited style and couldn't adapt to a song with real feeling.
Looks like they took everything the vocal coach was trying to teach them and threw it out the window.

I think Louis and his team must take the blame for last night. Period. Hopefully lessons will have been learned and they can draw a line under it and move on. But at least it proves they have a solid and large fan base who voted them through. They will bounce back next week.

I really enjoy watching and listening to G4 when they sing. The depth, harmony, and synergy that G4 provide captivates me and draws me into the songs they sing. By far my favorite in X-Factor.

.....totally agree with you The title of this thread is so ridiculous that it will probably have the opposite affect

Yet again, everyone's opinions change due to one bad song choice. They are different to most acts that entered this competition and they are jolly good I agree with you again Pennycandle, I hope this thread does have the opposite effect

I'm sooooooooo disappointed with the way G4 have evolved. I was very excited when they auditioned and they have just gone downhill since.

Let them do it their way. Let them wear their suits and sing their songs.

If only they had Simon as their manager - Louis is in danger of doing a OTV/Pete Waterman here....

Nooooooooo Not another OTV pleaseeee Dont say that they were awful, no I won't let g4 turn into that lol

Oooooh, I am soooo struggling with this, thms. Not to vote for the fabulous and versatile G4? Hmmmmm. Well, ok, then, I won't.

....Anne, please don`t give up on them so quickly - reserve judgement until next week. They are not to blame for last night - hang your head in shame Louis Walsh (and his dreadful stylist).
