Rihanna churns out rubbish after rubbish and sells it with her body. Case closed.

Wow! What a well thought out question followed by a well structured piece showing the differences between each and also where they could be similar
Op, you have started a lot of stupid, pointless threads in the past but this beats the lot. Well done.
What the f*** do you mean?

It is kinda hard to answer the question when it doesn't really make sense. To be honest, neither is it engaging. I don't see how it can be debated.

I'm pretty new on the forum, but I did think this thread sounded a bit odd.

Well in terms of success and achievements she is more of a Britney as she really has very little input in her music but has shown her capability on Rated R but chose sales instead of credibility on latter releases case closed.

No, she doesn't have the talent that Whitney had for starters.

On the subject of Beyonce, I think she's very overrated as well.

Fame the likes of Whitney had will never be reached again. Madonna is the last of the major superstars.

Britney and Beyonce are however icons in their own right and probably the only singers from this generation who will be remembered in decades to come. I'm not so sure about Lady Gaga yet as I am still not sure if she is just going to end up being a flash in the pan like the Spice Girls were. Rihanna however, and I do like her music, will never be classed in the iconic or legendary leagues.

lol what a funny question. For the sake of playing along. Certainly not. I don't find her engaging at all. I hardly care to know her songs.

Nope. She doesn't have the talent to be anywhere near Whitney.

She won't reach Beyonce's level either, unless she takes a year off and regroups herself. Beyonce has had a team behind her who care about her as a person as well as her career. Wasn't her career managed by her own father for years, until Jay Z took over. She would have never been let to touch this CB mess Rihanna is in the middle of atm. Also, Beyonce has the reputation of being an amazing entertainer on live shows. She gives to her shows all. Rihanna is not.

I think Rihanna might be headed toward some sort of minor break down actually, she is working too hard, and she isn't 100% ready for it.

Question for the OP.
Are you allergic to Capital Letters?

Your posts make little sense as it is, but correct spelling might help a little.

No.

Rihanna is turning into Westlife in term's of impact. Let me explain (to the OP).

Westlife where a boy band who had 14 number one's in there shortish career churned out one after the other, most of the later one's hyped by Simon Cowell TV programmes (they where on his label), and then disbanded with no musically legacy and the majority of people couldn't name five number one songs by them or actually care.

Unfortunately much as I think Rihanna is talented, this is the direction she has been pushed or decided go in-one song after another. If she prefer's this to releasing quality songs at a slower pace which will be remembered in 20, 30 years, then that's fine. That's not to say she hasn't done big tracks, she has, but musical trend's aside, Umbrella and one or two other's will stand the test of time-but there is a lot of unmemorable stuff as well..

Janet Jackson at least to me anyway, is a legend. Quality songs, amazing back catalogue.

Beyonce is good but apart from the stuff with Lady Gaga recently she' has offered anything that's interesting musically certainly with the last album.

Whitney Houston-when she was at the top of her game she was unreachable.Rihanna does not have that level of talent nor fame-it was a much more crowded music business in the late 80s/90s than now, huge competition from many more global star's.

Well in terms of staying power wise!! I should've put Mariah Carey into the picture but I just thought of them 3 and that's it!! And does she have the potential to be remembered like them??

I can see gaga and ri ri as icons by the end of the decade!! But gaga more because her contribution to pop culture has been huge since her arrival on the scene

I don't think it was the right comparison, all the people you mentioned in the original question have had different careers - Beyonce and Janet have peaked at different times, with different sounds. So it was hard to answer the question. Not everyone has to be compared with everyone else.

Rihanna as an icon? To whom and why? I'd question anyones musical knowledge if they thought Rihanna was an icon.

Rihanna is very much an Icon. She may not of made groundbreaking Music but she is very much an Icon. She has an amazing catalogue of hits and her ever changing style makes her one of the top fashionista's around.

I can imagine people checking out Umbrella, Only girl and We found love in many decades time. They are classics already. Whether you like Rihanna or not, she has made her mark in Pop music and will likely not be forgotten.

Rihanna is not an icon. What does it say for your knowledge of music if you think that? And just because people will listen to Umbrella in 20 years doesn't change that.

i think my definition is someone who creates great music musically and someone who redefines what it means to be a superstar and sales too in terms of how many records they sell. and your so crazy if you think am obsessed i think your obsessed with messing around with people!!
