Any tips from experienced reptile owners. I know the basics, food, habbitat etc but was looking for some information that people who study Bearded Dragon's don't always pick up on, how to keep them happy.
If you have the set up perfect and they are being fed trust me they'll be happy! They are one of the few reptiles that tolerate human contact well so can be handled and given exercise and freedom. I'd let him/her settle in for a few days before handling though. Good luck with him/her!
They make great pets and are very active and curious little fellows, like the above poster said leave it a few days to let him settle in and get a routine going,i feed mine salad in the morning and later in the evening he gets his livefoods, cover 3 sides of the tank with background to make him feel secure, how big is ur viv?
Hi guys thanks for the advice, a little worried. Had him for just over about 30 hours now and he hasn't eaten. Put in mealworms and locusts but he doesn't seem interested. I put one right under his nose and nothing. I realise it may be just because he's in a new home and he hasn't settled yet but I'm really conerned.

Mine did the same at first, per severe and keep offering him food but dont ever leave live foodstuffs like crickets or locusts in the viv, they get in every nook and cranny and may nibble on ur dragon when the lights are out, have u tried him on any veggies or fruits?mine loves an occasional strawberry lol endive, turnip and mustard greens are ideal.
Hmm...Everyone keeps saying how good it is. I'll take it out right anyway and feed it to the locusts. Some more good news to report, he had some mealworms today and seems to be eating and settling in fine
Yeah its deffo on the no no list lol i just keep lettuce for the crickets and locusts,u can buy some good veggie mixes at asdas,my little guy loves endive, thats good that hes feeding,he'll eat more and more as the days go on,mines usually poops in the water in the mornings, same with my water dragon.
What I did yesterday was, chopped up some apple for him. He wasn't interested so when it was time for his worms, I put little tiny apple junks on top of each worm so he ate both. Put me in mind of "Cheese and Pineapple for the homeless"
They are good little eaters when they get going, they are also very fast lol mines much faster than my water dragon,he sprints across the room and up the chair to look out the window

Oh yeah, one thing I've noticed about him is he loves looking out the window.
