I have the S2 and its awesome, I will be upgrading to the S3 most likely though when it's out (will buy it SIM free and use my contract Orange SIM from the S2)

I looked at the s2 but I just didn't like it so I bought a sensation XE don't know why though after having an XE I now regret the decision

I can't quite see the S2 discontinuing in that the screen is way ahead of the rest.
Old rumours had the S3 using a 4.65" 1280 x 1024 screen whilst the dear old Grauniad now claim it was at the MWC and is 4.8".

Its a strange world where rumours become fact.

I will consider buying the Galaxy S3 if it has a physical button.

I like physical buttons.

Samsung are denying the april release date story.

It wasn't at MWC, but other Samsung models were...

Because Samsung said it wouldn't be and would be the subject of separate launch.....

For a current S2 user the S4 would be a more valid update.

Rumours.

Apart from a Quad core processor, few more megapixles on the camera it wont be a revolutionary change.

For current S2 users the S4 will be the wise man upgrade, doesn't mean you have to stop anyone upgrading now.

The S2 and S3 are miles apart. If it is 4.8" its hitting executive territory(i.e. BIG) with the only similarity being that both use the expensive next generation screen.

In comparison the 4 and 4S are identical. (I'd discount one gaining and one losing Siri)

It will be 2 years before you see an S4 if at all.

Well exactly its all rumour. Why they would encroach on Note territory however with a massive screen will be strange. I think it will be the same size as current S2 screens.
It will run ICS but the S2 will be getting that too.
Its camera was reported at 12mp but mow 8mp is flying around and the S2 camera is pretty decent already so how much of an improvement will it be?
Battery life god willing will improve but by how much?- a couple of hours?

But a upgrade worthy change from GS2 (contract aside)- meh don't know from the talk. GS- Yes cert.

Well going of Samsung's record of a new phone every 5minutes I doubt that.
But seriously the S and S2 and S3 are all a year apart so there will from that alone be a high chance of S4 in 2013.

Google is also planning a new Siri - like service that will improve upon the current voice command service. That is planned for the end of 2012. Judging by that it wont be a Siri-on 4S- only moment but possibly a update across ICS??

I think the S3 at 4.8" is too big too(for marketing though I'd personally rather have it bigger) but the original rumour of 4.65" sounds right.

However I think there is already a version of the S2 at 4.65" so maybe the S2 also gets a revamp.

Yeah, There's Skyvi too which is the most accurate one out there of the Siri copies.

However they really aren't as good as Siri or as accurate and integrated. Google knows this and has been working on a better-integrated and open alternative.

Only thing is - I wonder how they are going to integrate it into current phones - will it be a app or a firmware update?

Cant find the current article but this one is the closest I found explaining more. Looks great.

plenty of copycat apps work better than Siri. Android is modular so they can all integrate very easily with maps, twitter, facebook, smsing etc. They can also use Google's voice recognition, presumably either as an API or open source.

Which I think answers late8's question - almost definitely an app I'd say. I think Android is less restrictive on apps talking to other apps than iOS is - e.g. look at the 'share' menu. Any app can, with a couple of clicks send photos/text/video to another app.

Siri is absolutely bollocks. It takes an age to respond to questions and when it does 98% of the time its picked you up completely wrongly.

Oddly enough it managed to pick up me calling it an idiot earlier and responded "i try my best!".

I think the S3 will be out in and around the Olympics. Especially with Samsung sponsoring the Olympics.
