Hi I recently bought a Blackberry Playbook and I'm mostly happy with it but I've got one niggle that's driving me mad!

I've been wanting to tether via my Samsung Galaxy S2 and I've set up the bluetooth and it shows them as paired but they won't connect!!

On my phone the tickbox at the side of the paired items is greyed out and on the playbook the button to connect is greyed out also!!

I've tried unpairing and starting again from beginning but nothing works!!

Could really do with getting it working as want to be able to get on Internet at work (our access has been took off us)

I'm pretty sure the bluetooth tethering internet option is only compatible with blackberry phones? someone correct me on that if I am wrong. But dont you have a wifi hot spot option on your phone to connect to internet using your 3g and data plan?

That's what I do. I have a Desire HD, and I activate the hotspot and then switch on the wifi on the playbook, it picks up the connection like connecting to my home wifi, except it's on my phone. Works perfectly.

When I bought it I'm sure the man said it would tether via bluetooth with my phone and it has paired up!

Maybe I've misunderstood him, will look into the hotshot thing though!!

Glad you got it working. With the bluetooth it will pair but it won't bridge with a phone that is not a blackberry. The hot spot wifi should work just fine. How much data do you get from your carrier? If you are browsing desktop sites like you do on your home computer it will use more data, mobile sites will use less. Obviously streaming video and music will be quite data intensive. Best to monitor your Internet use as charges outside of your data allowance can be steep.

I'm on three with all you can eat data, so I guess I just surf and stream to my heart's content. Anyways enjoy your playbook.

I get 750mb (i had unlimited with my iphone but recently upgraded and lowered my tariff so now get 750 on my Galaxy)

I dont do any streaming or anything unless im in a wifi spot so im hoping i wont go over 750mb

The building where i work are installing public wifi over next few weeks so will use even less of my allowance then.

Bluetooth drives me mad with that, over the years mobile phones etc have restricted file transfer etc via the drivers, so bascially makes your blue tooth only good for audio and few other things. Stops you tethering
