It’s been a big disappointment, as a proud owner of this phone Samsung Galaxy S2 , which now has been given the go-ahead to have the new Android 4 on March 1st, all failed miserably. So is there someone out there who knows when this delightful world best selling smart phone will get Android 4?

Don't think there has been a official date announced ever. Samsung said by Q1 2012 but then you have to wait for carriers etc.

never heard a date of March 1st.......

The delay will be with Samsung adding all their bloatware.

And you dont usually get rollout to all handsets at once ! If your phone is 'unbranded' then you will get the first batch but if you have an Orange/T-mobile/Three/O2/Vodaphone branded phone you could be waiting much MUCH longer !

Id also say that ICS will be the last major release the S2 will get. One of the reasons I ended up going for the Nexus.

Is your S2 any less of a phone because ICS is not yet available? I doubt it.........S3 immanent!!

I agree that March 1st was never, ever mentioned....

I can't believe how many people think Q1 means 1st March the latest. Even on XDA people are going on and on about it saying "where is ICS, I'm going to cry?".
To be honest I didn't flash any ICS version, but I doubt visually there will be a massive difference and people will just end up disappointed.

Q1 runs until the end of March. No real disappointment if you didn't expect the update on the 1st anyway.

It will have Android 4 soon and there will also be an LTE version launched as soon as the networks have coverage. The Galaxy S2 is still the No1 contract handset on most of the sales charts so the present OS version does not seem to be putting off potential customers.

I don't think Samsung have ever been more specific than March.

I thought the March 1st date was posted by a blogger or a news site.

Did I say it is? But the majority of people won't say "wow, the phone is running a bit faster" and they might be disappointed.

Strange isnt it.

I updated my S2 to 2.3.6 I9100XILA3 Italian firmware from a pre-installed German 2.3.4 one.

That was on the back of the face XDA was saying its the best Gingerbread official rom to date.

And you know what- it actually is feeling faster!

T-Mo/Orange had 2.3.4 I think it was before my Mrs using on an unbranded so I wouldn't rely on that either,

Apparently, on another forum I read, someone sent a e-mail to Samsung asking why unbranded phones were still on 2.3.4 when branded phones were on 2.3.5 and 2.3.6. The reply was that bug fixes needed fixing on branded phones because of the branded software. Or something along them lines and unbranded phones didn't need the updates so that's why they are still on 2.3.4. How true this is, I couldn't tell you, probably a load of bull.

I read one of the fixes was to do with the bouncing scroll when you reach the top or bottom due to a patent infringement.- it is now a blue glow on 2.3.6. Also for me 2.3.6 seems smoother and battery life better with less time taken up by Android OS.

The blue glow is on 2.3.5...ICS will probably be on the SGS2 before 2.3.6 is rolled out by the networks for it.

Its been available for the SGS2 for ages.... unofficially anyway.

I'm amazed how excited people are getting over it!

I'm pretty confident ICS will be coming to the Galaxy Note on the 22nd along with the new Angry Birds, and seeing as the Note OS is similar to the S2, you might see ICS coming around the same time.
