seems pretty clear to me. They won't announce it tell its ready to download; anything else is either a leak or mistake. Do they put something in the water at school that removes any patience? its all now now now and tears if we can't have it right this second....

I know I know, but don't have a dig and then expect no response. I don't even have a SGS2 anyway so why am I even bothering.

Hmm now, they announce it on there site saying 10th March, then decide to pull it a few hours later, seems pretty clear to me they don't know their ass from their elbow.

I doubt a software upgrade would make any real huge difference. It wouldn't to me anyway.

I'm very cautious about doing the upgrade on my unbranded S2, particularly if there is the risk of losing Flash playback. Yes, I know the Internet is moving away from Flash etc, but I'd still rather have it then not.

Will moving to ICS make my phone, definitely Flash incompatible?

There is an ics version of flash. Works fine on my nexus. Regular updates too.

Hmmm. Thanks. Will probably err on the side of caution and watch a few Youtube videos of successful installs demonstrating this...plus see how the hardware home button works with the new menu options.

Does anyone know if the ICS update will stop the Sky Go app working. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it will??

Technically it will until they release update, which you think would not be too long given how long it took to come out originally.

There are work arounds to get it to work with ICS have a look over at XDA

If it's not available by the 20th I'm probably going to just Flash my S2 with the ICS version that was leaked. Actually cannot be bothered with Samsungs broken promises.

Update: Samsung's just tweeted that March 10th date is (sadly) wrong. It added that once the upgrade schedule is concrete, it'll confirm through its dedicated Twitter account.

Personally I'd rather have it when it's ready and not when some geek wants it in a hurry. I suspect most people want it just for bragging rights rather than any major practical reason....

agreed. My S2 is still shiny with or without ICS. I'll cope without it being a bit shinier for a while yet.

I don't know why there is so much fuss over this update.

There is still no official date of release. Samsung confirmed this and said so far there is a internal date set only.

ICS on the S2 will look much like 2.3.6. Currently the beta roms still have issues.
Even when the full version appears it will usually have some sort of bug or issue somewhere.

I have a rooted S2, where can I find the official ICS to update? I have Googled (admittedly briefly) but can't see any links

Thanks

bbc reports expected UK date of 19th.

Also BBC reports something relatively minor about someone other than apple!

Tried the rom today seemed very buggy wouldn't let me view anything on my memory card and just looked bad didnt like the 'feel' of the rom at all, I've been avoiding the ics custom roms until they've seemed more stable but an hour with the Samsung rom and I switched to cyanogenmod 9 which just seems better and less beta than the Samsung releases. They've definately rushed these roms out half the issues that the leaked roms have had over the last month or so are still present.
