I've installed this today, Not sure about it, With TW its lost the nice look of ICS, Looks very much like Gingerbread part from a few minor cosmetic changes. Stock ICS would be nicer.

are you guys talking about the one available officially through Kies, or just the latest leaked versions? Didn't think we could get it officially yet.

Its not available in the UK yet via Kies but is in other parts of Europe thats what were talking about, its the final release, just hasn't made it to the UK yet

I was using I9100XXLPQ (4.0.3) the releases are being sent out gradually for the different countries. The release in the UK won't be any different really just the branded phones where the phone companies add their own tweaks.

now official word from Samsung UK:
Quote:
“Samsung UK can confirm that the roll out of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) on Galaxy S II will be available from week commencing 19th March, however the availability of software upgrades in the UK will be dependent upon each network’s own software approvals process. ICS for GALAXY Note, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY Tab 8.9 and 10.1 will follow soon.”

The daft false hope claim is now dead and buried:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17352795

S2 will get upgraded in the UK to ICS from 19/03/2012 dependent on operators.

So much for the OPs scaremongering!

They've definately rushed these roms out half the issues that the leaked roms have had over the last month or so are still present.”

Which issues

I've just installed it (thanks to the good folks at xda-developers ) and it seems fine to me - all very slick, can see my microSD card no problem, everything I've tried so far has Just Worked . What am I missing?

So it looks ruined with touchwiz over it, I had a bad feeling it would be ruined compared to the vanilla release on the Nexus.

It looks nothing like the Vanilla version, I was excited when I saw the pics of ICS on the Nexus, it looked so clean and fresh, this just looks the same as 2.3 nothing like the Nexus version.

Agreed. I was hoping for something bluer and swishier. Still as our friends in the walled garden say...."there's an app for that"

Well this is true, I tried a launcher called Nova, seems to work well, but the ugly green battery indicator still doesn't fit it.

I think I'll wait until a few have tried it out before making up my mind to switch or not. No doubt there will be a video or two about pretty quickly....

Can anyone advise on Galaxy SII on Vodafone UK? As far as I'm aware, its not branded in any way? Never seen even a Vodafone app? Will the software offer me an update automatically? Is it likely to be offered by Vodafone or straight from Samsung?

regularly updated "I'm on x, when do I get it?" page:
http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...get-it-1070589

says for Voda:
Quote:
“Vodafone has also confirmed that it's received the update from Samsung, and told TechRadar it is hopeful of rolling out the Ice Cream Sandwich update in double quick time:

"The Android 4.0 upgrade for Galaxy S2 smartphones running on the Vodafone UK network is currently under test to make sure that we provide the highest level of final software. As soon as the tests are completed we will upload the software to the update servers as quickly as possible.”

This is one of the reasons why I get my phones from CPW. You get the same contracts/tarrifs, but you get an unbranded phone, so you don't get all the operator bloatware.

This means that you get OS updates much quicker, rather than waiting from the airtime companies to monkey with the code and add all of their cr*p.

I am impatient
