This. I will never buy another branded phone. Mind you I will probably never load another official update either. Root and ROM for me

Agree - Root and ROMs is very niche .... I do it myself though....

However I think that ICS is the first phone Android version that really doesnt need a UI overlay (such as Sense/Touchwiz/Blur). I say 'phone' version as Honeycombe was tablet only.

Previous versions of Android (IMHO) looked a little bland in their stock form and needed add-ons to make them more appealing (or custom launchers). ICS is a very attractive and functional UI - my only criticism initially was the forced 'Google Search' bar .....

Agreed and if Samsung had of left SGS2 alone it would of been a hell of a lot nicer, this TW skin ruins ICS

I have ICS raw on my Nexus and 'slightly' tweaked on my ASUS Transformer.

Raw is much nicer although to be fair ASUS havent messed about too much.

With the SGS2 do you have the native ICS browser ? are you able to select 'Settings/Labs' within it ? If so the 'quick controls' are fantastic

We just need Samsung to release the kernel sources, then we will have a fully functional CyanogenMod 9 running

Reading around some think Samsung have removed features from ICS.

One was the camera and effects for ICS.

find the SGS2 forum on XDA Developers .... there are normally some step by step guides to most things there.

It makes me wonder why some people bought a phone in the first place.....Has Gingerbread suddenly stopped functioning?
How many people don't change the look of their phones when they get them? So it's a bit pointless crying over the wait (not really that long) for ICS, when, more than likely, the first thing they'll do is change it's look......
Patience is a virtue....
