how to download movies etc to tv?
Advice needd please on best way to connect through my router and get movies (and ideally i play as well) playing on our tv
the tv does not have a facility for connecting to the router we have an old dvd player that I would like to upgrade to a cheap but good blurap player - i believe £120 will get me something will a blu ray player connect by ethernet to my router and have some functionality on it that will let me rent movies from say lovefilm and stream them through the router to the tv? is there some other 'device' i can use that will let me do it? Thanks |

You need a media player like the WD TV live box.
http://wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=330 Some blu-ray players have limited streaming capability. |

looks good ... but ... my missus seems to think that rather than buying a box that has a restricted number of services available, we'd be better off cabling a pc to the tv and subscribing to whatever service we like via the pc and watching it on the tv from the pc
any thoughts - could we watch hd streaming that way, is she right, would it give us more choice, ? |

I reckon you should buy a PS3 - media streaming capable plus a good bluray player

but that NAS , it has an ethernet connection and anything with DLNA will play the films you download. no need for a PC on and the whole network in can stream films , music etc from it SMART TVs will play straight off the hard drive |
