And don't I feel foolish now! Fair play though. It's the second highest total that Yorkshire have scored to win a game in its history, and without Bairstow and Root. Might have to get used to not having Bairstow though. He's an England batsman if ever I saw one!

Saw Warwickshire v Derbyshire today. Win for Warks with, dare I say it, a certain amount of swagger. Another great bowling display even accepting Derbys didnt get going at all, and truly cruised home one and three quarter hours before the scheduled end via Porterfield and Trott.

Not even the middle of May and Notts season is a third over!. Not complaining too much as we head the table despite playing very poorly for much of the games. Voges and Patel should be available for most of the games to come so our batting will be improved. |

Big game for Lancs today at Edgbaston. Can't afford to fall much further behind
Keedy and Kerigan both back so near enough a full squad to select from |

Mark Ramprakash has been dropped by Surrey after scoring just 62 runs in eight innings this season. I wonder if he may decide to call it a day.

I was thinking that as well Not sure what kind of contract/bonuses he's on so he may stay 'till the end of the season Watched him a bit on the IPL and he's OK as a pundit but doesn't seem to come out with anything unusual. Probably wouldn't notice if he wasn't there |

I have enjoyed the cricket but the analysis becomes almost anal as they have to make the most of anything that happens. The phrase 'Mountain out of molehill' comes to mind. Imagine the same in football in an Indian 5-a-side league, they'd be debating how players used the boards to pass the ball in the last 20 seconds of the 35th match or something equally forgettable. T20 is great when I've been to watch it live but for me, in the UK, it's beauty is the tight way they control the time with innings over in 75 minutes and the match over in under 3 hours. It's a nice package that suits what it is. Start, play, applaud winners, console losers, we all go home. But I groan every time I look at the ITV schedule where it takes them 8 hours to get through 2 matches. What next, a competition to evaluate the best samosas served at all the grounds? ![]() PS As for Ramps and retirement, he has been a superb batsmen who I have always enjoyed when I've seen him. I was listing a One-Day Cup Final programme for Middlesex v Worcester back in 1988 on Ebay the other day and was reminded that this was the game Ramps made his mark with a mature innings as a teenager to help Middlesex win the trophy. What a player he has been. Was always fascinated by how he explained that he adjusted his style to suit test cricket and this helped him get a century against the West Indies. However, these changes in style meant that the selectors thought that he wasn't delivering what he had been selected for!!! A real no-win situation. |

There is a new publication called The Cricket Paper, a weekly. Worth a look at if you are interested in particular in county cricket. Also coverage of club cricket and a few other articles. It's bang up to date as well.
Great innings by Katich yesterday after Yorkshire seemed to have the upper hand |

Lancs are charging £19 for a T20 match if you buy on the day.
This price goes up for the game v Yorkshire to £21. These prices are reduced by 25% if you buy in advance. I reckon these are way too high and that the on-day prices should be where the buy in advance prices are now. Isn't the attraction of T20 that it can attract the after work crowd and tap into the impulse buying fan? Reckon Lancs are under pressure to pay for the OT redevelopments. It has put me off going. Working from home, I am very much a fan who would like the option to pack in the work and go if possible. But £19? I don't think so. |

Some terrible. figures for the Lancs bowlers today . Keedy 1-162. Does the IPL ever end? I think it's on again today. I haven't the faintest idea of who the teams are supposed to represent, some good finishes from the few games I have seen , but the whole thing is so tedious until the last five minutes |

Why oh why can't the ICC get the scheduling sorted out so we don't get such conflicts? The game shoots itself in the foot. The problem with the T20 is that actually, it suits my work schedule.I can do a days work and then pop over to OT for some cricket. I love the all day CC stuff but just can'y justify the time. hence my irritation at what looks like them killing the golden goose. In football, a Hammers mate of mine has just told me that some fans are being asked £750 for 3 tickets by Wembley. Blackpool have sent thousands back. |

Great rearguard action by Lancashire. First semblance of a reverse for Warwickshire, Id have put money on pushing a win today.

Nick Compton with a chance to be the first player since Graham Hick to reach 1,000 runs before the end of May
http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-c...ry/565950.html Still needs 67 in a maximum of 2 innings |

Very good and unexpected win for Notts today who now go top. Good all round performance by Samit Patel. Amazingly Lancashire and Durham have not won a match this season

i can't believe Netherlands have won 4 games in a row, no wonder England are crap at one day cricket, if they county team can not even beat an associate nation, England really need to improve they one day form and how they go about it strategy wise. |

This is the lasr day that Nick Compton has a chance of getting 1,000 runs before the end of May. He needs 59 today , but may not even get a bat as Worcestershire have only lost three wickets. I wonder if Somerset will open with him if ,say , they have two hours to bat tonight. |
