That's the reason why I never watch the show live and record it. By the time I've FFd through the adverts and the stupid 'training' footage, I can watch a 2 hour show in under an hour!

Tonight's show would be feel much better if it was only for 1 hour considering we only have six celebrities skating.

Ad breaks are the main reason I don't watch DOI "live" any more.

Good thing I don't care about spoilers.

It was VERY noticeable tonight... how long before they stop some skaters mid-routine for an ad break!? That said it was a great show otherwise!

Same here. Fast forwarding past the ads and boring training footage of those you don't like saves you from wasting an hour.

I started a hour behind and finished at the same time. Thank god for Sky+HD. Got to be the greatest invention ever.

I started watching about 10 to 8, having watched swimming on the red button, and I still managed to see the end only a few minutes after the finish.

That's why they're introducing product placement in shows as so many of us fast forward (or make tea) through the ads. Saying that, each week in Corrie there's the P symbol for product placement and I have yet to notice any products!? Perhaps the world is now so full of advertising that we now go blind to ads.

A friend of mine timed it tonight. There was 27 minutes of adverts and 13 minutes of skating.

lol - Were blinded to it. With Virgin and Sky making these boxes so we no longer have to endure the adverts I suppose companies have to think up a new way of advertising.

With product placement, now you too can buy Andy's T shirt in Corrie Wonder what kind of product placement they could put in DOI? Skates? Music tracks?

I flicked over to my recording of Fringe! That way I missed the ads and the waffle before people skated. I managed to see nearly all the above programme!

There's been a lot of talk of the viewing figures being really low this series and this is why. I don't exact figures but say last series was getting 12million viewers, this series is getting 8 live, the other 4 are probably sky+ it and watching it later fast forwarding through the adverts so its still getting the same figures. That's why the figures are so low each week as people don't want to sit through adverts.

I do this too, and the same for 'Strictly Come Dancing'! ( I know there are no ads, but plenty of other stuff to FFd)

Tonight has to be one of the worst for adverts we had 2 in the first 25 minutes and had them even before the first couple skated. I'm beginning to think its only done to pad out the show to the 2 hours because ITV are too lazy to think up anything to fill the gaps and don't want to change the Sunday night schedule so just fill DOI with lots of adverts to take up the timeslot.

Surely they could even just do a short extra DOI show to fill the gap a bit if it was like 15-20 mins or whatever. Ok we know the skaters need the break between shows but they could be chatted to backstage or talk to the judges or even Karen at that stage get the insights into how training had gone or why judges scored something they way the did in more detail something like that. Even any behind the scenes stuff anything has got to be better than adverts every 5 mins.

Totally agree with the OP. Maybe ITV gets more money if the adverts are shown in the middle of popular programmes. The amount of time given to the advert breaks was ridiculous during Dancing On Ice.
This is a programme that needs to be on the list for record first and watch later, thus skipping those many long rude interuptions which do spoil the enjoyment of watching show live.

It really was beyond a joke last night, ads everywhere. Thankfully I caught up with DOI about 15mins after it started. I still ended up catching up with it even 'tho I only ff the ads.

The show is really losing viewers becase of all these ad breaks. Last nights show could have and should have been completed in an hour. The show was on from 6.35 until 8.30, now was there any need for that at all? No.
There were only six couples and two dances by the groups but hey, come on ITV, you had an ad break before anyone skated last night, it's getting pathetic.
I am losing interest in the show because of it. Not only that, there are too many changes this series that are not poplular plus for me anyway, the awful Louie has spoilt the show.

That anyone would choose to watch this type of protracted programme live, is beyond my comprehension, to be honest. With the proliferation of PVRs, Sky boxes etc. there is no excuse.

I recorded the Star Trek movies the other day and the ad breaks were 5 mins each time!

Or record it on a PVR and press the pause button - not too difficult is it?
