Chemmy is boring and dull to watch. Plus she is always on about being a "top" class athlete, blah blah blah there is nothing "top" about her career, just mediocre attempt at skiing.
Greg Rusedski achieved far more in tennis than Chemmy has or ever will in skiing, yet he never mentioned his athletic predespositions once when he was on the show few years back.
I hope Chemmy is out next, can't stand anything about her.

I have no issue with competitive, confident or posh [not that she is posh, she's just another rosy cheeked middle class Englishwoman] but I do have a huge issue with arrogance, which she displays in spades. She answers back the judges and there have been several occasions when she disagrees with what she thinks are her low scores.


And also him getting very frustrated with that behaviour and walking away with his mouth clamped tight shut.

On a skating front I find her very ungainly, clodhoppery and lumbering. She moves round the ice like one of those huge container ships trying to turn round. I found it disconcerting in the early stages when she kept thanking T&D for helping her get fit after her skiing accident, and thought it came across as though she was just using the show as rehab for her skiing career.

I think Jennifer never really believed she could be a good skater, and is now starting to see that she can be, whereas Chemmy has always seemed to belive herself a cut above the others because of her skiing. I also seem to remembr a few occasions where she has tried a bit of fellow athlete bonding with both Robin & Katarina.

I started out really disliking Jennifer from what I knew of her previous career, but have found myself warming to her. I also started out not knowing anything about Chemmy but very willing to root for her, as I love skiing, but I can find no point of empathy with her at all. .

Definitely not favouring with the Public.. She's nowhere near my favourite, I much prefer Jennifer.

I was trying to work out the maths for her placings and gave up. What was she after the doubling of the points, second after Jorgie? So to be in the last two after that, did she get any public votes at all? I'm not being flippant, I'm jiust trying to work it out. We know Andy has massive public support, so is it possible he was 5th and she was last?

I'm not quite sure where she ended up after double points. I think you could be right 'tho as she did get ( imho ) overmarked and was pretty high on the leader board before the 'twist'. Your 'reckoning' of it sounds about right to me. It was Andy's 1st time in the skate off so he obviously has a big fan base. The fact Chemmy still ended up in the bottom 2 after being ( we think ) near the top of the board does indeed suggest she got minimal votes from the Public.

She was second on leader board with her double points.

I think it's probably because on joining the show she would not have been a household name, she wasn't an early front runner and is probably seen as a bit too competitive with her athlete's mindset. The audience will always prefer the pathetic little creatures to strong, confident women.

She probably should go next week but I was surprised to see her in the bottom 2 last night.

No need for me to comment further really. I agree with everything you have said. For some reason I haven't warmed to Chemmy. Can't put my finger on it other than what you have said.

I think generally you are right in saying this, and it is indeed refreshing to see someone think highly of themselves, even praise themselves in front of the judges, despite looking cringeworthy and everything but ladylike when doing her dance. She likes what she does and that's all that matters to her, good on her.
And it is also nice to see someone with a "real" profession taking part in the show rather than countless number of talentless soap actors and x-factor rejects or other garbage reality show stars.
But for me it's her presence i hate, there is something about her and the way she talks about herself that truly successful people never do.

Robin Cousins referred to '........the best technical skating so far' in his review of Chemmy's performance on Sunday which I took to mean 'from her'. When she was interviewed at the start of the results show she interpreted the comments as meaning she had demonstrated the best technical skating of any skater in the series so far...........correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure that's not what he meant but tellingly that is how she heard it and chose to repeat it

........I don't find her likeable either....a bit pushy and humourless,probably takes herself very seriously and together with her partner they don't look the part as much as the others on the show.

That isn't necessarily true. I had never heard of Jorgie as I don't watch soaps but I prefer both of them to Chemmy, who comes over to me as quite full of herself. Jen seems like a really nice person who genuinely cares about the other skaters and always looks pleased when they get through (I also find her elegant and pleasant to watch on the ice) and Jorgie, to my eyes, is a far better skater than Chemmy is. I thought Chemmy was OK in the team skate but I don't find her entertaining skating in a couple.

Chemmy was ranked no 8 in the world at downhill skiing when she had her accident..... That is not mediocre by any stretch of the imagination.

She is the most successful skier Britain has had, so deserves kudos for getting that ranking especially as she hails from a country which hasn't got a great alpine skiing tradition.

Robin and Katarina have always commented postively on her skating technique from the very beginning, so she has all the basic skating down to a tee - and she is working on the presentation, which is where she is at a huge diadvantage when compared to the dance trained Jen and Jorgie.

What she lacks in the dance/presentation skills is outweighed by her excellent technique, and unlike the other girls, she is confident spending a lot of the routine shadowing her partner rather than being pushed and pulled around and hiding lack of skills by spending huge chunks of the routine up in the air!

I agree with absolutely everything you've said, and like I mentioned in another previous post, I have respect for her in that she has a real career unlike many other participants.

I have watched Chemmy ski for many years, I love skiing and watching the sport. And I take pride in us Brits having a representative of this wonderful sport. However, even though I am no professional, I have watched enough skiing to know what sort of skiing geniuses exist elsewhere, and compared to them Chemmy is unfortunately merely a mediocre skier. I do think Katarina is to blame partly for Chemmy's constant reference to her athleticism because Katarina has from day one refered to Chemmy as "top athlete like me...." however note that Katarina is the most acomplished skater of all times, so slightly inappropriate comparison here.
Still, Chemmy is probably better at her chosen career than any of the other contestants are at theirs. Who is Chico?

He entered the X Factor a few years back. Although he's not talented in comparison to a lot of other folk, quite a lot in fact, he has a personable nature imo and I much prefer watching him skate than Chemmy. Oddly enough I'd heard of Chico but not Chemmy. Funny old world huh

Chemmy isn't the most stylish skier out there (I'd describe her style as "Gung Ho!"), but the fact that she was ranked #8 in the world shows that she can't be THAT mediocre. There is a LOT of competition from the Alpine and Nordic countries in Europe and the North Americans, so to be good enough to crack the worlds top 10 out of hundreds of skiers says a lot about her ability and dedication.

she was never ranked 8th in the world, in the sense that she was the 8th best skier in the world. I think her highest total rank was something like 35. She may have been ranked a bit higher in one of the specific events, but I doubt this was slalom - the most technical of the events, in fact I don't think I have ever seen her do it.

But I wont carry on slating any athlete's career, it's bloody hard work and requires a very strict way of life, and I am in no position to criticise her really.
But I guess when she tries to portray herself as the best of the best, I find it annoying.

I don't think people realise that you're actual points in the leaderboard don't matter at all, it's just your rank, so even if you got 429837529 from the judges, but were second, and third had got just 5, then you'd only have a point advantage over them

she's not very popular to go fom 2nd on leader board - to still being bottom two - that meant Matthew and Chico leapfrogged over her after twist with the girls doubling their scores.

Also goes to show that votes can fluctuate from week to week - Chemmy was 2nd from bottom last week & must have beaten Chico in the public vote by at least 2 places to have avoided the skate off last week. And Andy must have been 3 places ahead of Chico at least.

My guess last night is that Matthew & Chico were top 2 in the public vote with Chemmy & Andy bottom 2.

Exactly - the maths indicate that Chico and Matt were topping the public vote, possibly with Andy fourth, though not enough to keep him from the bootm with Chemmy bottom.

The vote is almost certainly largely female, working class, older and northern. Chemmy doesn't tick 3 of those boxes and being female is usually a problem not a benefit.There's a long list of southern pretty girls who fail to get votes on reality tV shows in line with their ability. Jennifer and Jorgie tick more of those boxes, and are more well known to TV audiences. Jorgie also has 5 + times Chemmy's twitter following, and Matt has 10 times Sean's - so there's also an advantage there with any younger vote. Jennifer is an actress and dancer, and can use that ability in her routines, Jorgie ticks those boxes too, and provides most of the show's wow factor too . That eats into the vote thats prepared to vote for a female. Chemmy's strong skating skills won't win her as many votes unless she can do something eye catching with them - Chris and Ray could spin and jump and move very fast - which is easier to see and more watchable than all the good things Robin goes on and on about.

She shouldn't have been in the bottom two, and I am not sure she's the only one getting too few votes if that can be the result.

That works too and Jennifer could be higher.Chemmy and Andy could also swap places. Chico goes forward in any tie because he has more public votes. The first option was the announcing order they used and would have the overall scores announced in order 1234. The second would be announcing the names in order 2134.

Chico may have had had a rebound vote this week, which may not be there next week, or people could be voting for his chest - the shock of that may wear off next week..

although Chemmy is a far better skater than Greg

she's obviously not getting the public vote which is probably a mixture of a number of things

1 small pre show fanbase
2 confidence and a competitive sporting mindset doesn't go down well on these sort of shows
3 her build means that it's more difficult for her and her partner to do some of the more "audience pleasing" tricks and lifts and when she does them they don't look as graceful as with some of the other girls
4 her pro partner isn't one of the pro skaters with a big ready made fanbase like Dan and Matt Evers for example


personally I think she's the strongest "basic" and technical skater of the girls but I reckon she'll be bottom 2 again this week and could be out
