Im glad youre coming around buddy
Yep. That John Lennon has nothing on Harry Styles.... and as for the blonde irish lad, George Harrison could only have wished he was half as talented as him.

I thought they were awful on the X Factor and relied heavily on backing tracks to add extra vocals. It always amused me how the judges wouldn't say a single bad word about them even though it was obvious that they had no major talent. They could all individually hold a note relatively well, but that's about it. As someone else pointed out, one of them couldn't hit the notes and kept getting even the simplest of steps wrong on the routines and no one seemed to bat an eyelid.

I think they were lined up to win the X Factor that year by the producers and Simon Cowell and it backfired on him when the public went for Matt.

Since X Factor they've had one catchy single which is still being churned out 7 months later (the fact they sung it on Dancing On Ice recently as opposed to a new track or follow up single kinda proved how much they're relying on this track) and not much else.

They'll do well due to being young and attractive enough for teenage girls to lust over, which in turn will sell whatever records they release that have been written for them.

I will admit that Harry has a certain something about him that will make him a superstar - whether that's a solo career down the line or just a celeb in his own right.

They vocally p*ss all over the One Direction boys..
Which is hardly a glowing accolade given how thoroughly abysmal they are and not just vocally

It's like karaoke night at a lobotomy club.

I guess everyone obsesses over a group or singer at that age
Not really....

OK, I may have been a little in love with Judith Durham but the difference was she actually had talent and still sounds good today.

The public were hooked on Matt from start to finish. Seriously, check the voting trends. He was like 1st almost every week.

I know, I'm not debating that - more the fact that the way Simon and the judges never said a bad word seemed to be in a manner to get the public on side. I think the producers and Simon knew they were a big cash cow and wanted them to win from the start - after all, Simon created them in bootcamp. I'm glad they didn't win, could you imagine the smugness from him?!

Well duh, they're a tween boyband from X Factor. What did you expect other than a huge pre-teen female following gained from said tv show, and rubbish music?

It really is beyond me why it surprises some people. It's not exactly hard to work out the formula. Or maybe some people just still aren't wise to the ways of X Factor yet. In that case, learn some common sense, please

There have been plenty of "boybands" over the years and some have had a modicum of talent among them...

This shower on the other hand mark an all time low in every respect. Leaving aside the appalling vocals every move they make is amateurish out of time with the music and each other and looks as though they only met an hour before the performance.

Oh I know that - just look at Take That (if you can still refer to them as a boyband?) and how they've proved themselves to anyone who may have doubted their credentials as a quality music act. I don't mean to generalise and claim every single boyband there's ever been have all been bad.

My point though, is how when you get a bunch of pretty boys who've just left school appearing on a show as female-aimed as X Factor, there's only ever going to be one result - instant fame, endless tv and radio promo/airplay, obsessive teen girl fanbase, and crap music just to appease them and make money from them. Simple. It worked for JLS, and now it's working for this bunch. There'll be more in the future as well, if people are still stupid enough to watch the show.

I get annoyed when people compare One Direction to JLS

I'm hopefully in the majority here when I say that I think JLS actually have WAY more talent than OD! Yes, JLS have got progressively worse since the XF, and yes, they may rely on their looks(not as much as OD though!), but they are still soooooo much more talented than OD!

Also, I think the mental Directioners are putting a LOT of people off OD. Max from The Wanted yesterday made a comment about how One Direction rely heavily on their looks(which is TRUE, let's be honest!), and he got death threats and all sorts! Then I made the stupid mistake of telling the OD fans to calm down and quit harrassing Max, because what he said was actually true, and yeh...I'm still getting death threats now! It just shows how much the OD boys actually care about their fans. Why are they not telling the Directioners to quit being so...OTT?

And looks wise, Aston JLS has way more talent and is way better looking than all 5 OD boys put together

I take your point about their twitter fans but how many acts would love such a loyal and dedicated fan base. It is what has got them to where they are.

As for the Wanted I haven't a clue what is going on but they sure are going for it with the slagging off of 1D. I have read various articles recently and tweets having a go and it isn't a good look! They recently said they were glad they were not an X factor band. Ahem Max auditioned twice and another member failed the audition! They also said 1D are no competition as their fans are so young. This from the band who supported Justin Beiber on tour And if they think there is no competition why are they slagging them off at every opportunity.

I like the Wanted but I am going off them with these comments and I don 't blame 1D's fans for defending them. Do you really think TW ed's fans wouldn't defend them too ?

I think they're really good, they've improved loads since TXF and I've liked every song I've heard by them. They're all good looking aswell, so that's a bonus.
Yeahh especially Zayn his vocals have improved massively And also Niall and Louis.

Considering JLS have been together years longer than 1D and been performing and gaining experience it is hard to compare talent. I have seen way too many bands at the beginning of their career to write them off as having no talent. The main thing IMO is 1D are improving in performance and harmony skills and that is a good sign I won't comment on the dancing except to say they have said they are not a dancing boy band and that is fine as long as they have some semblance of cohesion on stage with lots of energy which I think they do!

I think I must be watching a different group....

They each struggle to hit a single note or stay on beat let alone "harmonise" with each other.

Well you've probably only seen their tv performances.
They have improved imo, but whatever each to their own.

Feel free to stun me with an example of their "harmonies"... or even a whole song where they manage to keep time and stay in tune.

If you want to hear their vocals you should check out their acoustic version of More than this
