Best Usb Flashdrive For Recording Tv Programmes
Help please. Can anybody tell me which size of USB flashdrive is best for recording from Freeview Scart adapter? (2,4,6 or 8 GB). It's only for short term use.
If this quesiton has already been asked, my apologies. Couldn't find anything when I searched. |

There could be a couple of issues trying to record to a USB drive.
If it is attached to a Freeview box then chances are it will only record whatever channel the box is tuned to at the time. It is unlikely that the box will let you record one channel and watch another. So if the telly isn't also equipped with Freeview that might be a killer limitation. If the drive is attached to a TV then it might only record from the TV's tuner and not at all from external equipment. So if the external Freeview box is the only source of digital telly you might not be able to record anything off it. However if the TV is digital you may be able to record one channel using the built in tuner and watch another channel via an external box at the same time. If the TV lets you do this of course. |

It would help determine what you can and cannot do if you were to give us as much detail as possible.
For a kick off what are the makes and models of the adapter and the TV. Are you plugging the USB drive into the TV or the adapter? This has a very direct bearing on what may be possible. |

I can only find details about a Futuristix device that records to SD card, not been able to find anything about a USB version.
But assuming it will accept any size USB drive then just plug in the biggest you can afford. If the Freeview adapter doesn't like it you can always use the USB drive on your computer ![]() As the TV has built in Freeview this does at least mean you'll be able to record one channel on the adapter device and watch something else at the same time on the TV. |

Thank you very much for your help. Very much appreciated. I'll buy an 8GB Flash drive and think I've got some 4GB SD's kicking around somewhere (got an adapter I can use). AS I say, it's only short term until I get my new PVR - which was supposed to arrive today but has now been put back until 15 March. |
