I used my orange pay as you go sim card from my old lg cookie, inserting this in my new bb curve.

Unsure how to activate blackberry messenger (cant accept anyone or use it properly) and be able to use apps without having to access a wifi hotspot

What numbers do i call or any alternatives?

Have you registered and set up a BlackBerry ID on the website?

If not, BBM won't work and you won't be able to install any apps.

You may need to reboot the phone once the BB service has been added, quickest way is battery out!

Is it a Curve 8520? If so then it should say 'EDGE' or 'GPRS' in the top right by the signal indicator, if it is in lowercase like 'gprs' or 'edge' then it's not connected to the BB service.

If it's a Curve 9300 or 9360 then it should say 3G (in capitals) and have a BB logo next to the signal level. Again if it says '3g' then it's not connecting to the BB service. If this is the case then it looks like Orange haven't set up your account correctly and you'll have to call them.

What was said above. On Pay as you Go (on Orange) it's a 2 step process for the operator. Firstly they have to add the Blackberry APN marker on your subscription (using an application called JTi for those who are interested) and then once that product is registered the operator goes into another application (CS Portal) and registers the billing subscription. It costs £5 a month and is deducted once a month until you text BB STOP to 247. It can take up to 24 hours to activate, and once registered you then activate the services via the handset.

Oh, and there is a cool support page for Orange customers here:

http://www.blackberry.co.uk/orange

Hope that helps
