Rock Guitarist Ronnie Montrose RIP
I know there's not a lot on here who would know who this man was who passed away at the weekend, due to postrate cancer..however, he was a hugely influential musician & guitarist, first with his namesake band Montrose (who's singer Sammy Hagar later found solo fame and then as singer with Van Halen) he then went on to form the experimental hard rock band Gamma.
If there are any rock/metal fans that doubt how influential he was, just listen to that first Montrose album, and remind yourself it was recorded nearly 40 years ago! A true musician who will be missed. |

What a shame. I got into Montrose last year after hearing "Rock Candy" on T.V. I ended up buying their debut album on eBay and enjoying it a lot.

That is sad news.
![]() I never saw Montrose but I saw Sammy Hagar in the early 80s and he did a lot of the Montrose stuff, Bad Motor Scooter, Space Station No. 5, etc. Still great songs and the first Montrose album is a classic. |
