Where is Lady Gaga?

Not that this is important whatsoever, but I've noticed a distinct absence of Lady Gaga in the spotlight recently. Apart from the charity appearance at Harvard (and MAYbe the Grammys) she's not done anything since about Christmas time. I know she's got a tour going, but she's had a whole year to do that. Where is she??

Busy rehearsing for her tour and planning what she's going to do for the upcoming year, perhaps.

Well.....after her failed publicity stunt of snubbing the Red Carpet at the Grammy awards, I suppose she's learnt that it takes more than that to stay in the limelight....after all, there's only so long that her ridiculous costumes can keep her in the news, and Born This Way was a flop relative to her debut so I expect she's gone back to the drawing board.

I'm sorry but can she ever win?

If Gaga goes to the red carpet people will see whatever she does as a publicity stunt, and even when she doesn't go it's one?

This is the woman that turned up to the Red Carpet in an egg. Of course it was a publicity stunt. Unless of course, she really didn't care about all the press and dedicated fans queueing up all day to catch a glimpse of her...and what does that say about her?

After she left the Grammys she went out and took pictures/met her fans.

Rehearsing for her tour most likely personally I think it's good she's taken some time out of the limelight she was doing a lot in 2011 so it balances out.

Shhh! She might hear you. It's been nice not having Miss Madonna-Lite pushed in our faces and down our ears.

lol.

she didnt walk the red carpet because she was upset about Whitney Houston... who... she admired and dedicated a performance too. she was sad and didnt want to walk down the red carpet.

and Born This Way a flop? i dont think so, 8million album sales worldwide? thats a flop? so what do you consider to be a 'non flop'? 20...30 million?

Born This Way (Single) was the fastest downladed single history. it broke reacords and everything.

Judas the video has been one of her most successfull videos to date, over 140 million views, and it reached 7 in the UK charts and like number 5 or something over in the US.

Hair was a PROMOTIONAL single, only played on the radio like twice, and it reached number 12 in the charts, no video, no promo, nothing.

Marry The Night was one of the most watched videos in a day...

SO... that is a flop? Ok

Gaga is working on her 4th album, aswell as planning for the tour, she's also taking a well deserved break and spending time with her boyfriend taylor.

She's expected to release a new album in the fall/ winter of this year, possible 1st single August/ September time.

Yet countless other celebrities (including those who actually KNEW Whitney and had worked with her) managed to walk down the red carpet and talk to the press about their feelings. Trust Gaga to make it all about herself.

Except it's sold 5 million. 8 million is shipped. While it's not necessarily a flop, it is a disappointment following the huge success of her debut album.

You've only got to look at the chart positions around the world to see that it flopped. "You and I" also underperformed.

Judas only reached 8 in the UK and 10 in the US.

Gaga has met Whitney before - besides, believe it or not she isn't actually owned by the public and she has every right to not walk the red carpet if she doesn't want to, it's not like she needs the publicity boost. In fact, although I agree with the poster putting you right, it was only them who's said that it was about Whitney, not Gaga herself so I don't think you should automatically assume that because somebody has said that was the reason that it suddenly becomes the genuine reason.

Why does it need to be compared to her début.. please tell me who else sold over 5 million copies of their album last year and lets see how she compares then. Along with the "bridge" that was the Fame Monster, I think she's done a good job at avoiding the whole sophomore album problem a lot of artists encounter. Born This Way, whilst at times admittedly was a little too "religious", certainly for myself, is a very good solid album, and sonically is miles ahead of a lot of songs and albums on the charts. I hope her and her team learn from the release mistakes of this campaign so that they get it spot on again in the future so that she can stop this ridiculous criticism of apparent "disappointment".

Marry the Night would have worked a lot better if it had been released instead of Judas, followed by TEOG and then a You & I (N. America) and Scheisse (Europe & Australia) double release schedule. However it didn't under perform - the music video is good and is doing well on video sharing websites and I believe the song is more about her growth and progression as an artist than it is chart positions and commercial success - besides, it's the 5th single off of a well selling album, hardly likely to hit number 1 in 50 different countries is it. In fact it probably got rid of the whole consecutive Top-10 in the USA thing off of her back - leaving her with a cleaner slate for the next album. Regardless she's still one of the biggest artists on the planet, and remember it's harder to stay at the top once you're there than it is to get there and quickly fall down (note. Duffy etc.) Beyoncé hasn't exactly had the most successful year, but you don't see swarms of people racing to criticise her on these forums - and she's another one of the top artists/popstars on the planet.

So I do feel that the criticism here is unneccesary and over the top a lot of the time - take her for what she is and enjoy her for what she is and the music she produces.

Just thought I'd leave you with this fantastic performance from her, one of her best songs.

Oh and to answer the OP's question, she's probably resting ahead of touring for the next year or so. Promoted the album last year, touring this year.

She doesn't usually walk the red carpet at major events. Beyond "The Vessel" at the 2011 Grammys, the last time I recall was the 2010 VMAs - and even then she was making a statement with the discharged gay soldiers as her guests.

Perhaps in this instance she had another stunt planned but scrapped it out of respect for Whitney, or maybe she never intended on doing it.

Best guess is that she's simply just lying low to make the break between BTW and album #4 more effective.

That ties in with the OP. She's keeping out of the spotlight and seemingly spending her time with her boyfriend and prepping for the tour. Oh, and sorting out her perfume launch.

I'm glad she's not around at the moment. She's getting a bit too much now, constantly hear, there and bloody everywhere. Rihanna's not much better and I'm glad to hear she's taking some time out after this album. The only artist who I think does it perfectly is Beyonce....she makes an album, promotes the hell out of it, gives fans videos for songs that aren't even singles, does incredible tours, then goes away for about 18 months and takes a break/records another album. I think her albums are always fantastic quality as well because she does things this way and takes her time with each album.

well right now shes working on her 4th album and planning her born this way tour right now. so i assume this tour is in promotion of the born this way album and her 4th album too. so right now she's taking the time right now to work on her follow up to born this way. so far it's a success btw imo but a minor disappointment. kind of like Britney's oops i did it again. where britney's songs didnt meet chart success except that oops is the only like worldwide hit but it only went to no.9 in america. plus her album was still a success. she's gotten so much success right now in such a short amount of time like britney. i actually think she's catching up to britney in terms of hits wise and success too. she can even be more iconic than her even. her contribution to pop culture has been huge also but brit's is more bigger right now.

Not that it's majorly important, but Hair was played on the radio much more than twice lol. Capital FM, one of the biggest stations in the country, playlisted it and were playing it probably every 2 or 3 hours for a couple of months. I'm sure even Radio 1 played it more than twice.
