Add to them David Sneddon (piano), Alistair Griffin (guitar) and James Fox (guitar and piano). Even Alex Parks played the guitar briefly during a group song though she didn't play and sing her part at the same time.
Spot the link? That's right. They're all FA and not PI.
Of course Tabby's going to say he played the guitar. If he admitted he didn't he might as well walk out of the competition now but in close-up his plucking and strumming were totally out of synch with the notes coming out of the guitar.

.....Oh how could I forget the wonderful James Fox ......now there was a guy who COULD really play guitar - I used to watch him and Alistair (swoon) on live streaming and they were brilliant round the piano.

Don't you think though, that this show is more like Fame Academy than Pop Idol. You've got the contestants all living in the same place, trips out to awards cermonies, judges having the final say, broader range of musical genre with instruments - don't know about Simon Fuller suing Simon Cowell for copying Pop Idol, the BBC should consider it as well!!

Im new to the Forum, I have been lurking for the last couple of weeks, just to see what peoples feelings are about the acts. i have to step in at this point and clear something up, TABBY HAS BEEN PLAYING THE GUITAR. The backing track has been playing some of the guitar but tabby has been playing the lead guitar solo's. Others have suggested he can't even play the guitar, ANYONE who has seen him play a live set will tell you that he can play, and that he is CLASS.

I see what you mean though they did already nick the idea of the contestants living together, going out together and so on for PI2.
The judges having a say is one of the things I don't like about FA so it's disappointing that they've adopted that idea, particularly when it's becoming so blatantly obvious that if any of Simon's people end up in the bottom two they don't have a prayer of getting past the imp and the fraggle. It might have been fairer (if more expensive) if the last two sang again and the public had 5 or 10 minutes to vote for them.

I was watching very closely on Saturday and Tabby did Not look like he was playing the guitar live. I know he can play the guitar but maybe with all the distractions going on around him like the kids, choir, waving arms in the air, remembering the words and the possibility that the dog that Sharon had with her was also going to be part of Tabbys act then perhaps it was decided that Tabby should merely go the Busted route in guitar playing.
I sees on another site someones mentioned Dont Like Monday Boom Town Rats NOW that would be wicked, long as he could remember the words! He was brill last week, and I liked it a lot, and I were already a bit of a fan now I is a huge one, and me ovver person has gone home so I thinks Tabby it has to be to follow.

If I remember correctly pennycandle,Sinead Quinn only got to play her guitar live on the very first episode of FA1 (the night she took part in a special 'play off' to be voted into the Academy).From then on,she was miming (there was that notorious evening when her guitar strap broke,and she simply put the guitar down even though the 'sound' of it continued)
From what I've heard the live music on X Factor is down to Sharon - she bought Tabby his guitar,and insisted on the right for him to play it live.

After saying to the kid who gave him the guitar, '' thank u little man!'' he breaks out into a short solo, which was definitely live. Listen closely. after that im not sure if he is gently strumming to add to affect, maybe not.

I think this one got lost in translation ; when he told Kate he had been in bands 'for the last couple of years',he actually meant the last 'few' years (Irish people sometimes make this mistake with the word 'couple').He certainly has been around for quite a while......his previous band Petrinella appeared on the BBC as far back as 2000.

Absolutely correct! We've seen a combination of backing track plus Tabby playing live for the last two weeks.In fact he became quite animated when asked about this last week saying 'I can assure you that my guitar playing is 100% live'

i seen him play a gig in sligo a couple of years ago with his old band, petronella. mainly playing their own material though. the band were electric, especially tabby. He is a great rock singer, though i was more impressed with his ability on the guitar. he used to perform in his bare feet.
Kewpee, good on you and Jeanie for sticking up for tabby when he had less fans, especially to the bitter, clueless likes of chuh, pistonbroke and whip who wouldn't give tabby a chance because he was chosen ahead of Andy.

yeah, i know what you mean about the ''couple'' and ''few'' years thing. I remember the performance on a star for a night, they played sun hits the sky by supergrass, it rocked.

- Ta muchly. Finding it easy to support Tabby - because basically he is brilliant. I think the detractors are finding it harder and harder to criticise...The guy sings in tune, he can play guitar like a dream, he has stage presence, charisma, the judges like him and he looks cool as ****. Blimey - I think I'm becoming obsessed ..

THAT'S IT !! Thank you SO much. I've been trying to remember what they played on that show for the last couple of weeks.. You're right - it rocked. Blew all the other mediocre acts off the stage. BTW - weren't 2 to Go on that show as well, or am I remembering wrong?
