Personally, I think this one of his best albums he's done. Obviously not as good as classics like Born To Run, but up there. What does everyone else think? Also, favourite song on it?

Jack of all trade's is my favourite song.
Only listened twice and its growing on me.
Some of the horns and percussion take getting used to and i can only think of Clarence Clements saxophone during these parts.
But then its not a Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band album its a solo album with certain E Street members taking part.
Gonna see him live in Dublin in July, can't wait.
Interested to see what other Boss fans think.
Enjoy

I like it. I bought the deluxe CD with the two bonus tracks today, and just finished listening to it. It's going to take me a few times playing it to get my opinion on it. It's definitely better than Working on a Dream.

I'm a big Springsteen fan, so I'm glad to hear studio versions of Land of Hope and Dreams and American Land. Right now, my favorite song is the title track, Wrecking Ball.

His best for years, and at last includes a studio version of American Land that he has been closing gigs with over the last 6 - 7 years.

How great is this.

That's an an awesome performance of American Land from 2009's Hard Rock Calling. The much missed Big Man Clarence Clemons plays the penny whistle in this video clip. BTW, the Bruce and the E Street Band Hard Rock Calling Blu-ray/DVD is excellent.

Argh, I missed this release. Looks like I will be on Amazon mp3 store when I get home from work tonight. I'm spending a bloody fortune on there these days.

Any doubts that Bruce is still the best live act in the world have been dispelled, only shown last week.

My copy came through the post today and I am playing it now - first impression is that it is a very strong release, didn't much like working on a dream so reckon this is a step forward.

It is interesting how people can take what they want from some of the songs 'we take care of our own' probably means health care to the Boss but some listeners would take it as we take care of our own interests around the world.

In doing that he has fallen a bit short with his attack, still can feel his fury coming through.

Think so far it's a winner.

Had a week to listen to this. I don't know how many tracks I will keep going back to listen to in the future, although I am sure it will be more than the Working on a dream album. But not as many as the Rising which to me his the best thing he has done since the peak of his success.

Love the studio versions of the 3 tracks that were previously released. Jack of all trades is the stand out new track for me as well.

The track that I am torn on is Rocky road, loved the start from the 1st time of hearing but was not sure about the rap but must admit the more I listen to it, the more it grows on me.

Agreed on the DVD been worth buying. Watched Jungleland on the day Clemons died and that was really moving as the sun set over Hyde park and the lone spot light was fixed him on the stool as he played his solo.

UK's number 1 album, Bruce's 9th here.

Only foreign artist to have number 1 albums in four consecutive decades.

And it's a ****ing great record. Pity acts of today don't have the passion this 62 year old shows..

They don't have the insight either. Too busy remixing and dancing it would seem.

I think most sensible Bruce fans realise you can't compare Wrecking Ball to Born in the USA.

This has something different to say and in a different style, people who have BITUSA as their favourite album by Bruce would not appreciate this record. It was music for the masses, which is why it was his biggest selling album. Most Springsteen fans don't rate it in the top 5 even, it was the album that turned me off him for a while as I felt wrongly or rightly he had sold out.............but nobody can deny it was the start of his decline that ended with The Rising.

A great album by a 62 year old, and unlike the likes of Bon Jovi and the likes his music changes and evolves.

Not sure where you get that from but almost ever bruce fan I knows rates born in the USA as one of their favourites. Without this album bruce would have faded away and certainly would not be the legend he is now.

He did fade away after this album, Tunnel of Love, Lucky Town,Human Touch, the worst era of his career.

I have seen him over 15 times over the last 35 years, been to fan club meetings and in chat rooms of Backstreets and Greasy Lake two fan websites most agree on it.

Live he hardly plays any of the album over the past 15 years I have only heard Dancing in the Dark and No Surrender (which was duet with Brian Fallon). He refuses to play Born in the USA itself.

You must be talking to Taylor Swift fans.

The point being he hit a career high point with BITUSA, popularity wise. Rather than 'fade away' without BITUSA, he would never have made it that big without the album. Born to Run was popular, but worldwide BITUSA sold about three times as many albums. Most people who know his name now do so because of BITUSA.

Obviously he did not wish to carry through with that, which is why he "faded away" after BITUSA. Tunnel of Love, dismantling the E Street Band, the various '90s projects were all about him not wanting to carry on with that hugely popular style. But the only reason he "faded away" then was because he didn't make BITUSA #2.

It doesn't exactly seem like they were ignoring BITUSA during their 2009 touring. It's the second most-played album, behind BTR, and was even played in full three times during the WOAD tour. BITUSA, the song, was played eight times that year. I think the song is just tough on his voice, he doesn't seem to be ignoring it. 2007/8 weren't as kind to BITUSA, but according to setlist.fm it was well played during the 2002/03 Rising tour too. I wouldn't say it's rarely played.

I can't deny that most people know him because of Born in the USA.

But Born to Run- Darkness- The Wild Innocent- The River- Nebraska all for me better albums. But I can understand why people like BITUSA, it's easier.

I have seen him nearly 50 times and on his last tour in 2009 he played tracks off BITUSA 265 times?

So what are you basing your info on?

Bruce disbanded the ESB after the TOL tour as he didn't want to keep repeating himself, the music after that wasn't made for the masses.

To be honest most artists would call writing, performing and producing then winning an academy award a highlight of their career, not a fade away !

Well maybe I must have dreamt some of the songs off born in the USA that he played at hyde park the other year when I was there

Each to their own but not one bruce fan I know and I know a lot would ever say born in the USA is not one of their favourite albums, its legendary, the only album where every song is a classic, without this album bruce would never be the artist he is now, thats a simple fact, he certainly would not be as popular as he is now in the UK
And why bring taylor into the conversation to discredit my posts, laughable really.

BTW IMO Lucky town, human touch and tunnel of love are great albums, I love everything bruce does no matter what style he takes on.
