Are they having prop week this year? Circus week would seem the perfect time for it.

I SO hate props week.

Think I'll give it a miss.

When they said Circus, I instantly thought Barnum!

Looks like it's going to be same as usual.

Well according to the official website they are all playing a circus charachter as well as skating with props - http://www.itv.com/dancingonice/news...oll-props-week

Wonder which charachter everyone will get - Matthew may get the gymnast given his background, which probably leaves Chico as the Strongman though he'd probably make a good clown. Not sure about any of the girls.

Just tweeted from the Blue Room
http://www.*******************/forum....asp?TID=34032

The whip is not the only prop Matthew has to master for the toughest routine yet devised by ice-skating champs Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
He's also got a circus podium, a hoop, a perspex podium and a glass bottle to contend with.
The source added: "This week is really hard. We've had props week in the past, but usually each celeb would just have one. Five is a real step up as so much can go wrong."
The other contestants, Chico, Jennifer Ellison, Jorgie Porter and Chemmy Alcott, also have to perform their routines with props.
Jen will play a clown with a squirty flower, top hat, handkerchief and two suitcases.
Chico will have dumbbells, a barbell and a test-your-strength hammer as a circus strongman.
Chemmy will be a magician with a rope, cards, flowers, cane and an array of magic hankies.
Hollyoaks star Jorgie has only one prop — the difficult ribbon as she will be a gymnast.

"the difficult ribbon" that should in no way justify her only having one prop!! I'll admit I'm not Jen's biggest fan but surely she has one of the toughest props (judging by past experiences of other contestants) in the hat Everyone in the past has seemed to have some trouble with that blinkin hat and I'm pretty sure some people have even gone out in the SO because of a blip with the hat

Equally, the other contestants appear to have some difficult props too, so how come they've got multiple ones and not just been given one like Jorgie

On paper this series really is the best ever - a great new judging panel, some brilliant twists in the solo skate-off, the boys v girls team challenge and now this new improved props week with a great strong theme and a whole array of things to use!

So what is it that's turning people off so much? Personally I've not enjoyed a DOI so much in a long time

Anyway, back on topic...as ever with the props, so much of the 'fairness' of routines depends on what you get given as a prop. I can see Chico's routine actually being quite dull - I mean, how much can you move about with dumbbells? And as for Jorgie only getting the one thing to concentrate on when others have four or five...words fail me.

The hoop, hat and hankies all sound like 'danger' props to me - fingers crossed the celebs can handle them properly.

Overall, I'm looking forward to the show, but I'm definitely more concerned than ever about Chico losing out in a skate-off

Sorry the link didn't work, DS obviously don't like The Blue Room!

To tell the truth I am getting a bit bored by Jorgie, she has been good from the start (and she knows it, even though she feins surprise when she gets praise and high scores) The others have all had to fight their demons to get to where they are now, it hasn't come as naturally to Jen, Chemmy and Chico as it has for Matt and Jorgie. I do have a soft spot for Matt as he has the more difficult task of performing the lifts and Nina is my favourite Pro skater!

A pity that Stuart Widdall was axed as a pro skater: he would have been a good contortionist on Circus Night

If you look at what gymnasts do with the ribbon you can see why it would be difficult: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8Opv...eature=related

I know that Jayne & Chris have done some work with the British Rythmic Gymnastics team - I wonder if they're returning the favour & will help Jorgie with the ribbon.

And yet again its showing huge favourtism towards precious little Jorgie, everyone else gets multiple props and precious little "pet" only gets one. SO had it with the show now, its been rigged from the start for her to win its no wonder the public are not tuning in now, people are fed up with it all.

I maybe could've been clearer in my previous post, my point was not the fact I didn't believe the ribbon would be a difficult prop (I've no doubt it is difficult, and your clip demonstrates this), rather just because it is a difficult prop, I don't see why that means she's only being given one

I cannot see the justification that just because the ribbon may be difficult, therefore, Jorgie should only have that to deal with, because there's just as much argument to suggest that Jen's hat, Matt's whip etc could be just as problematic for them as the ribbon could be for Jorgie, yet the others have still been given 4/5 props etc
