Leaving a puppy alone at night

Hi, i'm currently working night shifts between 12.30am and 8pm. I have been coming home during my lunch break to check up on her but is this a good idea or is she ok to be left on her own for that length of time? She's nearly 11 months old and has slept pretty soundly pretty much every night since we got her.

I think she'd be fine, personally. Is she used to being left for extended periods? My dog (11 month old as well) is left between 10am and 4.30pm every day during the week. But he has been since he was 14 weeks old so he's very very used to it. He's also walked for 30 mins in the morning time before we go so he just sleeps all day.

The most i've left her alone during the day is about 7 hours, but she had plenty of food and water around in case she needed any.

I personally wouldent leave a puppy for that amount of time on her own, but thats just me. I would be popping home at dinner to check up on her.

I don't see the problem, you say your working nights??

Surely you would otherwise be in bed anyway so dog would be left?

I take it you meant 12.30am until 8am? Should be fine. If you're leaving her til 8pm then you'd have a problem!

Damn, yeah I meant to say 12.30am to 8am. Tonight will be the first time I leave her for so long, hopefully she'll be fine.

She will probably be sound asleep and not even notice you've gone.

I used to come back at lunchtime to check on my puppy when he was really young...but every day I would wake him from a deep sleep when I came in so I didn't see the point in continuing.

Well how did she get on last night? I'm sure she was grand!
