You will get Pro-Logic surround sound for PS2 games but not Pro-Logic 2, both process two channel stereo to create sounds from the other three speakers.

You want one of these Cinema Systems I have one and they are great. Dont bother with pro logic, pro logic 2 is far better and well worth any extra money.

You're definately better buying a surround system that will support Dolby Pro Logic 2 rather than Dolby Pro Logic.
Dolby Pro Logic only supports 1 rear\side signal that's shared by both rear\side speakers. Dolby Pro Logic 2 supports seperate signals for the rear\side speakers as well as making better use of the subwoofer. I've a JVC Dolby Pro Logic 2 TV and games such as Star Wars: Battlefront, Burnout 3 and GTA: San Andreas are fantastic in Pro Logic2. Whilst it would have been great to have had Dolby Digital (as the XBox has) on the PS2, Pro Logic 2 is still pretty good. Dunedin |

The UK PS2 is rotten for DVDs as it can't output an RGB signal.
The US and Japanese ones are designed for NTSC - how bad is that? Get a proper DVD and surround player... |

With a doctored PS2 or with a device such as a Action Replay DVD tool it's possible to output RBG from DVDs. Admttedly it's not the best player out there but it's certainly a good option if you are limited for space/cash or want another player in the kids bedroom etc.

I use SVideo as I use my PS2 as a DVD player with my JVC 28" 16:9 Dolby Pro Logic 2 TV and it looks great. There's a small difference between SVideo and RGB where reds and oranges are concerned but it's very small. If I had a 32" TV I'd certainly want to use RGB though.
