Unfortunately Derek is never called out on not letting his partners dance on their own. He is skilled enough to cheat on the dances, to build them around himself, but the judges know all this, and while they call others out, they never do with Derek. He seems to be the judges pet, and it is a shame, because it partly ruins the shows.

I don't wanna be feuling any rumours, but I swear that Derek and Maria are getting very cosy. Unless they are playing to the cameras. She did an interview early in the season with Adam Carolla and he jokingly said "watch out for that Hough kid" and asked her what her boyfriend thought and Maria replied "he better worry about Derek." I thought she was kidding but I now I am not so sure. She is definitely Derek's type - a tall slender brunette.

Derek will always be asexual to me. The thought of him being sexually attracted to anyone is kind of funny.
