I think that Maks is going to be the pro that who will never win in dwts and its a shame when they have 2 opportunities per year to win.
I know that he is a great teacher/chreographer and probably a great person but somehow I feel like he always seem to jinx his partners chances right at the end(if not early).
And before some says that he didnt have good partners like the Golden Boys (Mark&Derek) what about Mel B., Erin, Hope,Laila....? C'mon now if these girls were partnered with someone else "maybe" they could have won.
I used to be so bitter (lol) at the fact that Mel didnt win but you know what he did a crappy showdance same thing with Erin;somehow he always seems to fall short at the last hurdle.
Well and his attitude doesnt help him either;I know that a lot of things are scripted in this show but still...
And whatever people think about those pros yes some of them are favourites in the show but Derek is imo the better choreographer.
Maybe there is still hope after all Karina won last year (FINALLY).

If you do these shows and your significant other is a dancer or a celeb you have to let any demos of physical affection and flirtations go and consider it part of the job.

Agree. I think the problem with Maks is that when he has gotten to the finals, his freestyles have not been that good IMO. He is very good when he choreo a standard dance but when choreos something completely creative with no set standards he comes up short. I really don't think it is a consipiracy against him of not wanting him to win but that his how his die-hard fans explain it.

Maks should have won with Mel B and I did like his freestyle on that more so than I liked Helio's. On the others well lets see.

Laila was good but to be honest was overmarked particularly on those quicksteps and was never going to win against Joey or Apollo.

Erin similarly was against Nicole SherzRINGER and Golden boy as well as olympic champion (previous olympic ice champs who've done well there Apollo and Kristi who both won)Evan,not going to happen,also liked their freestyle there,it wasn't the same old same old...hip hop come broadway stuff trotted out.

Brandy should have made that final and could have won against Jennifer Grey but who did they come up against Bristol Palin and the incredible tea party voting machine, criticisng the Melissa & Maks voting machine can look to here as fans have learnt the tactics used and stacked up accounts,that time Mark benifitted this time Maks does swings and roundabouts.

Kirstie did damn well to get to the final and get second, she was older and overweight,got there on her fan base as much as Maks but didn't deserve to win on dancing anymore than say Maria or William does this year,she got her trophy by getting as far as she did.

Hope on paper should have got Maks his MB win, a 'popular' olympian,athletic etc unfortunately her personality was a huge turn off and she couldn't dance,she also managed to drag Maks' down with her (last season was not a good one for a fan imo).

To me I think Derek and Mark are good at what they do but they are more broadway show/ballroom choreographers that suits the way DWTS is I suppose and can be more arresting on the screen,it also covers up the faults of the celeb more easily.I also feel that Derek and Mark (and Cheryl to be honest) can be guilty of showboating far too much,it is supposed to be about the celebs not them after all. This year Mark doesn't have to as Katherine is a strong celeb. Maks,Karina and Tony are more traditional ballroom/latin choreographers and I prefer that,its how the dances are supposed to look

So should Maks have won before, yes, could he? Only once in my opinion.

PS I am a die hard fan but don't think its a conspiracy,although I do think the judges are crap but thats an overral thing and I think instead of swapping pro dancers around to give the show a boost get rid of the judges and that goes for SCD as much as DWTS,they need a fresh perspective on there

I think the "trio" idea will probably save Maria from getting a crap score for her Samba. I hate the idea already and the scores will probably be even more artificial than usual

Well tbh I have always been a Maks fan but not die hard ; its just that over the seasons I have come to put some things in perspective concerning him.
I hate the fact that he seems to go with the martyr route when it suits him. Imho I really think that the Golden Boys kind of have it easy compared to him or even anyone in the show when it comes to partners but nobody has it worse than Tony or Edyta(for example who left the show with her husband Alec;"supposedly" because she felt that since her husband 1st win he didnt really have "good partners" and good exposure and she gave the ABC exces an ultimatum and she got the boot;from very reputable dancing sources ).
-First I dont think that he is a really good teacher compared to other pros and from the length of time that he has been in that show he has to know what looks good on camera and what doesnt(and it seems to me that till this day he hasnt really grasped that concept).
And people have to know at dwts the celebrities "request" who they want to dance with.So although they considered things like height, personality...the pros have their preferences and same thing with the celebs.
Maks made a comment about Derek only thinking of his personal career and having partners like Nicole,Jennifer, Ricky in a row.

By the way Im not really a die hard fan of either of these pros although I will confess that Derek is probably my fav.pro in that show(he seems like a nice guy plus he is extremely talented).
For the female pros I like Kym, Cheyl and Karina .

Knowing someone who had cracked ribs, they could hardly move and breathe without wincing, so Maria has some seriously good powers of healing as it can take weeks or months for some to feel better.

They sound very close

Seems to be the breaks who gets the pick of the crop. Think Derek, Julianne and Mark probably upped the ratings, with their dancing and flair for choreography combined with their partners, seemed to have the best chemistry, must admit I loved Apollo and Helio with Julianne.

I do like Maks, but don't rate Maks' choreo, can't think of any routine I would want to watch again, the partnership that stood out for me was Mel B and she was the best dancer.

He does come across as a petulant child some of the time, wonder if that is put on and scripted, reminds me of James Jordan in that way. Hope he doesn't go the same way as James. Maks seems to be portrayed as giving his partners a hard time, again don't know if that is down to the editing.

Maks isn't perfect,he's human there are times when he deserves a slap but he's still my favourite pro on DWTS,as I said before he's more traditional and I like that,I'm not dreadfully keen on the showboaty style perfected by others. Last season was a hard one to like as he seemed to take on the worst aspects of Hope...(noticed this on SCD too I always liked Darren Bennett but with Emma Bunton he seemed to become someone different) He's outspoken ,passionate,a bit of a big kid sometimes.

I don't dislike Derek but I don't think he's golden as some do,he irritates me as the editors and some fans seem to perpetuate a Mr Perfect image for him and I think he's far from that,also I'm not keen on the all american boy vibe I get from him(not his fault I know,shows editing what they want to present i think). He is a damned good choreographer but not a ballroom one,he's a show one,he knows very well how to hide a celebs imperfections(which is the name of the game after all) witness Maria who is to my mind no better than Melissa. But surely the show should be about learning to dance properly and not covering up the celeb doing nothing so they can progress as far as possible? He does nick aspects from others too for his dances so not as original and exciting as he's always trumpeted as being.I liked Jennifer and Nicole but they were both dancers already so were was the progression,they wern't what the show was about (same goes for Mya with Dmitry for that matter). I don't mind them having a bit of dancing experience...ie Mel B,Katherine etc but full out dancers give me a break.

Mark,the other so called golden boy.Well at least Mark has had duds as well as 'ringers' but he annoys me more.I used to really like Mark, with Sabrina and Kristi,I thought he was great and then he got Bristol,a case of the celeb bringing him down for me(as with Maks & Hope and Darren & Emma) except my liking for him hasn't manage to recover from it He showboats far too much and his choreography is all about him.He's better this year Katherine is a lot stronger and stands a damn good chance of winning so perhaps he has had the sense to tone it down.

BtW if we go for the golden trio,I adored Julianne and still do.I still think she is a much better choreographer than her brother and I do miss her.

Totally agree that over the years Tony has been shafted,although he has had his chances ,Stacey and Melissa in particular,he has had many more duds than goods and that seems a shame,but again like Maks he is traditional and against the showy pros will this work? Probably not.

Never liked Edtya I have to say,perhaps its the fact she never seemed to wear any clothes but I did admire the way she stood up for her husband.

Last season irritated me because I think Hope Solo was getting a lot of votes (Thats why she got to the semi finals) but TPTB did not like her and wanted her gone so were constantly giving her bad Video packages. Hope was also in the fake bottom two twice to make it look like she was not getting many votes. Even though the scores for were usually okay you could tell that judges did not like her and would constantly give her backhanded compliments that were just a way to irritate Hope and Maks and their fans.
