You do see that with a lot fan bases. Personal attacks aside (which are evil spirited) most pros and even celebrities know that (constructive) criticism is how you get better and improve unless the ego is too big to allow for that.

It's one thing to support a favourite pro/celeb and another to attack other pros or celebs to insist your guy is better simply because of complete devotion and loyalty so no flaws are ever seen. At least admit that is what is going on.

Also when an entertainer acheives a level of success they are going to be criticised as well as praised. It comes with the territory. If you want to read the good stuff you have to tolerate the bad stuff. I saw a twitter from Maks where he said he loves the haters too. I thought haha he gets it. It is a part of the game of fame.

Well if I ran a fan site for someone I sure as HECK would delete comments I didn't like. The Hell if I'd pay good money to give haters another platform to spew their hate. There are plenty of other places to do that on the internet and they do that already.

But I've never hesitated to be critical of Derek or anyone else if I feel it's warranted. Long before Brooke Burke's book came out, I posted on the ABC Forum things Brooke wrote in her blog, since deleted, how hard Derek was on her and how much they fought. Fans didn't want to hear it, but the truth is the truth.

I also was critical of his decision to not include many Samba steps in his latest Samba. Len was VERY clear both in his and Lil Kim's Samba and his and Nicole's Samba that he wanted/needed MORE Samba content. I saw the scores coming the second the dance was over! If I could predict a 7 from Len, why couldn't Derek? If fan votes hadn't saved them I'd still be railing about that unwise (in my opinion) choice. But I guess fans did like the dance enough to vote them in for another week.

A blind fan I'm not. I call 'em as I see 'em. It just so happens I see a LOT more to praise than to criticize. Regarding ALL the pros, even Maks, who a lot of people are very critical towards. If it's so easy, YOU try it, as Bruno would say.

Apparently she is classical trained singer( just like Katherine who is a mezza-soprano) and is a soprano. Her voice is very underrated imo, I wonder why she sings those pops songs when she has this beautiful voice? Record company pressure? Who knows?
However Im so glad that her career succesfully took off since she won at dwts .
What I find is that some of the celebrities who participated kind of faded into oblivion like Mya, Lil, Kim,Jennifer Garth , Shannon E....so many others....even Gilles Marini (I really thought that after the show he would become the next big thing at Hollywood)
Success stories like Mario Lopez, Emmy S., Nicole Sherzinger are a bit rare.

-1 BIB I understand your point but the thing is that the site in question is not for a particular pro;it a site for all lovers of dwts, dancing, the pros.......I would understand why they would delete those comments if it was solely a derek site but its not.

I watched a video of some of the pros talking about how they come up with choreo each week/their perspective on the dance...(dont ask why I watch it lol; I have a lot of time on my hands since Im on vacation lol)
Anyway I just watched some of videos of the results show of dwts season 10 and there was one video where Derek said that there comes a point in the competition where you have to take risks(even though you know that you are going to be penalize for it).He said that he knew that Len wouldnt like that samba with Nicole(which I loved btw )but he felt like he had to do it anyway. Well that clearly didnt work with Lil Kim .
This just reminds me of his bollywood samba with Maria last week.So he was going for the public votes and it paid off(unfortunately)

Sure, BUT you have to understand that Heidi runs both PureDerekHough and PureDancingWiththeStars. I have butted heads with Heidi many times (now I just ignore her) over certain things, such as her refusal to make CORRECTIONS of obvious mistakes. She says, "We're not the NYTimes but just a fan site," and I disagree, "You still have to be accurate!"

Heidi refused to correct her misstatement that Derek was still driving his old Audi when, in fact, he was driving a NEW one that looked just like the old one but was a different, newer model. Derek's stepfather said the new car was a gift from Cheryl Cole. I looked into it and darn if he didn't appear to be right! I looked back to Derek's birthday party at a nightclub where Derek was asked what was the best birthday present he got. He smiled and said he couldn't say but it was really amazing. "Is it pornographic?" the female interviewer asked. "No, no, nothing like that, Derek said." But in the video footage of him driving away with Julianne, you could see the new car tag where the license plate belonged! So his birthday gift WAS a new car, even though we didn't know about it until after he returned from the UK.

As a result, I never post on either site any longer. But I defend her decision to delete hateful posts. Hell yes! I would too!

And it's true, Derek understands that to please the viewers and deliver a showstopping routine, sometimes you do have to take risks, as he did with his and Nicolel's sailor-themed Quickstep. Which even Dean Piper wrote about approvingly. And which won Derek one of his four Emmy nominations for Outstanding Choreography.

Maria also said she supported taking the risk and would do it again.

He turned out to be right both in Nicole's season and in this season. But Derek never forgot that in his first season he and Jennie Garth got a perfect 30 and the Encore--and went home the same week! So he takes nothing for granted, and always prepares his partners that they could go home at any time.

P.S. Len also said of Derek's Jive with Lil Kim - "What was on the label wasn't in the tin" - but he only downgraded them one point! They got the encore! As far as Derek's Samba with Lil Kim, Len didn't really criticize it - in fact he said, "This isn't a criticism" - but went on to say the further you got away from traditional Samba steps like voltas and bota fogas, the less it seemed like a Samba, "So try and make an old judge happy" and include more of those.

Wow I didnt know that his QS won him an Emmy, thats awesome.
I have watched plenty of his and Nicole interviews were he kept telling her to never take anything for granted and that he always told her(and his other partners) to always be prepared for the worse because of that episode with Jenny.

Not an Emmy but an Emmy nomination.

But Derek is always naturally gracious when disaster strikes. When Jennie fell because Derek stepped on her gown as she was sliding under his legs, she was horrified but he took it in stride, "I'm sure those things happen all the time on DWTS." Um, no, that was the first time. (There since have been others).

I quite agree. Perfection is pretty dull - people with flaws are much more interesting.

Even the best choreographer or dancer is going to get it wrong sometimes - it's what happens when you take risks. Saying so doesn't make you less of a fan!

Some of the comments I read on there were nasty. (Can't remember if I was looking at the Derek fansite or it's sister site - Derek fansite MKII. Lol!). Some of the comments directed at Maria's boyfriend were disturbing. (Fingers crossed those posters are just 13 year olds working themselves into a hormonal tizzy.....)
