Yes Im watching that At at the moment. Mesmerising thats how that dance was(Nicole and Derek AT)
And went the standing O was never ending and the audience kept clapping I remember Tom sarcastic comment to Derek , Now you neck feels better
I dont want to say that some people are milking their injuries but this doesnt bode well for Katherine(not popular enough and maybe a couple of sympathies votes for Derek tomorrow if they show how he couldnt even rehearse in the VT because of his injury).
Again Im not saying that he is faking it but just throwing this out there.
I really think that the 3rd place for the final is between her and Maria and Maria seems to have the edge.

Well its not a secret that I support Katherine and I happen to think that she is the best dancer this season, however the best dancer doesnt always win:its a combination of a lot of things. But I was hoping that she would at least make it to the final .

Ad if I hear, rumours about a possible showmance tomorrow with these 2 , I will scream at the TV!

I'm starting to be sceptical if all this injury talk really brings the votes in. After I really enjoyed their partnership in the beginning I was getting annoyed by all this broken ribs, fractured feets and now the back of Derek Hough. Holy s*it I'm starting to like William Levy even if I'm not dreaming about him on my desk yet. There is only place for another contestant ...

To cut a long story short, I think this whole begging for sympathy votes could backfire in the end ...

Last week Katherine had a concusion(and before that week an injury) and yet she didnt make a big fuss about it. Im sure she is not the only one.

I think that when a celeb does this show, he/she kind of have to know that having injuries comes with the territory so to Im kind of :yawn::yawn: to hear some people moan about it!

The whole thing feels rigged to an extent. I doubt Maria will win, but she wouldn't even have made it this far with anyone else. It annoyed me that she received the first perfect score. Katherine still hasn't had one perfect score yet.

I remember Carrie Ann saying that she thinks everyone is capable of getting a ten. The ten of one celeb may not be equal to that of another celeb, but she thinks that everyone is capable of a ten. What utter unfair BS! I do think they hold certain people to a higher standard.

BIB - I'm sure they do and to an extent, I think it's fair enough. Some celebs come to this better equipped than others. I don't mean Katherine's a ringer, or anything, but she's a performer, musically aware etc and she's done a bit of stage dancing before. In the first few weeks, I think that probably helped her, so I don't have a problem with them being a bit 'encouraging' with celebs who make good progress early on (as Maria did from week one to week two). By this stage though, I think things have evened out and as we get to the nitty gritty, I think the judges should be even-handed and sticklers for the rules.

It's fine saying Maria's samba was fun or entertaining or really well danced (all true), but it rankles with me that only Len held them to account for not dancing a samba!

I think this thread is in danger of sounding very anti-Maria, but it's tricky - when the judges let so much go 'uncritiqued' and the show seems biased towards Derek - not to feel a bit grumpy about it .

For what it's worth, I'd be happy to see Maria in the final. She and Derek entertain me more than William and Cheryl. She's made massive improvements and seems like a fun (and gorgeous) girl, but they need to lay off the showmance angle, keep schtum about their ailments and dance the dance they're meant to be doing.

(Oh, and a perception of bias isn't helped by having them dance last both times )

I know that the celebs differ greatly at the beginning. Katherine clearly has a bit of a background in dance, but it's not like she's a professional. Everyone has had the opportunity to learn how to dance though, and I would certainly take more than a few lessons if I knew there was even a remote possibility that I'd be on the show!

Life is unfair. It's kind of like giving someone who gets 40% in a test an "A" because they have tried their best. It's more than a little patronising and it's very unfair.

DWTS is a TV show and proper dancing and fairness usually take a backseat. I'm still annoyed by unfairness though

I have absolutely nothing against Maria personally - she seems nice enough etc. I don't think she's a great dancer and the Derek bias irritates me.

I remember Derek saying that he doesn't have a problem letting the celebs dance by themselves if they have natural rhythm. He was with Jennifer Grey at the time. Now we know why he keeps Maria in hold as much as possible!

This! Derek is a good dancer/choreographer(not my favourite obviously but I do enjoy watching him dance particularly in the pro numbers) but its getting to be so skewed towards him they might as well call it the Dancing with Derek show and just have him with a different celeb each week and vote on the best celeb at the end

You should take that idea to ABC - I think you'd get commissioned!

I am agreeing with you all, I'm not anti Maria. It's just their partnership seems to not be critiqued as fairly as other couples. In fairness to them it is down to the judges, even Len when he said their dance wasn't a samba, then went on tv to be interviewed to explain giving them a lower score.

I hope at this stage everyone it judged fairly

BIB - I know! How soft and cuddly was that?! (pass the bucket ).

I wonder if there might be a backlash - there's plenty of griping on the DwtS forum about Maria getting an easy ride. (Derek has lots of fans to counter it, of course - but it would be a shocker if they went out).
