It seems that he doesn't stick to all rules of his religion. Maybe it has something ot do with growing up in London since he was 10?
Can't be easy with other influences round him.

Welcome UltraJane, rant away you're in good company

I shall have to post a warning ahead of putting a link for pure DWTS then They are informative on occasion, so I just ignore the other stuff.
Hi UltraJane - glad you jumped in - keep posting!

I'm laughing at everyone's irritation at the PureDwtS site - they are sooooo annoying . They're so militant (I want to say 'cult-like', but that's a bit strong ) that it's off-putting for anyone who isn't equally and utterly devoted. Oh, well - it takes all sorts, doesn't it?
Hi Jane welcome to the thread
Hello Ultrajane
Thank you and Hello!

Your warm acceptance of my irritation with PureDWTS has melted me and made me a better person. Thank you for letting me feel more peaceful in my heart about certain annoying DWTS fan sites.

I'm sorry, I can't resist another tweak. That recent PureDWTS post where one of the mods threatens to ban "fangirls" whether they're pro or con Derek: WHAT! You know, those visitors are funding her ad-supported "FAN" site, which she (a girl, I think) runs. Why so hostile towards peeps who are subsidizing her site by visiting and participating?

Following up on the discussion upthread about Americans, spelling, etc.-- I'm American, so expect to be plenty irritated with my Americanized spelling and whatnot. I predict there will be regrets about having invited me to post more.

On topic about DWTS, I'll be disappointed if William wins. He's been overscored in the most blatant way. For instance, getting 10s when he makes huge mistakes. His routines haven't been that challenging or interesting. It's baffling. I may have to spread a blanket on the grassy knoll.

Hehe. I think Derek must be incredibly arrogant now, as he thinks he can get away with anything. The sad thing is that he can get away with anything.
I wonder how he reacted to not winning Design A Dance this year. Every season that he's competed on DWTS (except his first season) I believe Derek's won the Design A Dance competition. I was shocked that he didn't. Tristan is really popular!!

I think there is some softening in the way the show treats Derek. Len tore into him for his Bollywood samba for not having enough samba content. Of course, the following week, Len blanked on his own standard by praising that "jive."

Hi UltraJane. I can relate to this and I do my best to spell the British way when I can and also not use American slang out of respect for those who post here. It is hard when you have been schooled in the American way but I do my best. I have learned so many British terms here and I think they are cool. Sometimes I used the word gutted (a word never heard where I live) and people will ask "where did you get that word that from?" and I say doesn't it sound exactly like it means and they agree.

What I am curious about is what they all have up their sleeve for the freestyles. It always about the music so I am dying to know what songs they have. Mark has done very well his freestyles so I hope he does right by Katherine and plays to her strengths. I heard some people on TWOP talking about incorporating some tap into the routine. I don't know if Mark knows tap but I think would be great if it works. I could not help thinking that Derek learned tap for his movie that he did and he so would have put tap in if he was partnered with Katherine. But I am gonna trust Mark to deliver whatever he has in mind. He has got her this far.

Cheryl has also been good with her freestyles (I am thinking of her Ride a Cowboy with Drew Lachay). We will see.

And Peta is an unknown, who knows what she will come up with.

I like that it is hard to say who is gonna win this season. Makes it more exciting.

I'd like to see Mark incorporate tap into the routine too, but wonder if it will back fire with some bemoaning Kath's dance experience, would there be cries of foul from some quarters?

Sounds like Peta is going for it with lots of lifts, from the little she said about it.

I thought she only admited that he has a good shot based on the reaction of the women in the audience. But then she mentioned packers nation as well and that Katherine is the best dancer and couldn't really decide ...

Yes true she then mentioned Donald and Kath, because she should be impartial, but think she mentioned William first because of the audience reaction every week, maybe she gets a sense he is the favourite, part of me feels she could be right as a certain section of fans go gaga over him.

Was this guy doing his research before he was writing this article? Katherine Jenkins got her first perfect score in week 3? Do I've missed something? She also is still waiting for the 10 from Len for crying out loud ...

Maria's obviously missing rolling on the floor with Derek, now she's doing it with Nigel Lythgoe. Well wrestling anyway.

Does anyone know the format of the final?
Seems this could be the agenda for the finals:

In the final one-hour performance show on MONDAY, MAY 21 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), each of the couples will compete in two dances. All three couples will have the chance to show their improvement over the course of the season, performing a dance chosen by the judges that they have previously performed, but will be able to incorporate new music and new choreography. Each couple will also perform the unpredictable and always entertaining no rules Freestyle dance to music they have chosen themselves.

And in the final element of the competition on Tuesday, the three finalists perform a new routine in our “24 Hour Challenge” – in which they will have had 24 hours to pair their dance style of choice to music given to them after Monday night’s show. This routine will be scored out of 30 and will round out the judges’ scores across both nights.

Geez I dont really like the format of the 3rd dance.
Mark usually does great freestyle so the fact that he is pretty quiet about it and said that its something that he hasnt never done before, I dont know whether to be scared or excited but I guess we will see.

For their redemption dance,I would like to see the Paso again:The 1st time she did it she had all the agression and character that you need in that dance but I agree with the judges that when she was dancing solo she was great but as soon as she got in hold with Mark she missed a bit of technique(still think that she was undermarked for that though). So I would love to see her dance it again and Mark usually does great Paso
-My 2nd choice will be the rumba simply because I hated, hated the song .And didnt think it was an appropriate music so I think that with the right music they can pull it off however it can be boring if not done well ).
So I will go with my 1st choice which is the Paso:For her to have a better shot at the trophy, I hope the judges choose the Paso

For their fav. dance of the season:I hope she does the Jive (Mark's fav. dance. And the dance where most fans of hers and non-fans love till this day

Someone's put this on the ABC forum as possible dances -

Unconfirmed dances for finale:
1st night:
Donald and Peta: improvement dance: Cha Cha / Freestyle

2nd night: Paso Doble / Argentine Tango

1st night:
Katherine and Mark: redemption dance: Paso Doble / Freestyle
2nd night: Foxtrot / Jive

1st night:
William and Cheryl: redemption dance Jive / Freestyle
2nd night: Rumba / salsa

Would be good if William got the jive
