I just wanted to pop in (rather belatedly, I admit!) to say a huge thank you to every who posted links, comments etc on this thread about DWTS this season. I haven't commented before as I only really watched for Katherine and didn't really see any of the other dances, but it was nice to read about everything and see what other people thought. So a big thank you to all of you.

I was thrilled Katherine did so well but am a little at what the combination of relationship breakup and dance training has done to the poor girl - she is literally a shadow of her former self I felt quite sick looking at the Glamour award pictures. I've been a fan of Katherine's for years, and I've never seen her looking so gaunt and fixed of smile...not good at all! Have a look at the attached link, which shows some pics taken by members of her fan forum at one of last year's summer concerts (she is particularly lovely in the silver frock - scroll down to the bottom for pics - but in all of them she looks slim and glowing rather than scrawny and slightly wild about the eyes). What a difference a year makes hey and let's hope she ditches skinny and gets her original slender, lovely figure back soon

Thanks for the link, Kath looks curvy and healthy in those photos, don't want to make an issue of her weight loss, because she still looks toned and in good condition, but like a few on here, have said, a bit more weight suits her imo. Think it has really changed her face though, that was what surprised me, funny how you associate certain people with a certain shape and it seems strange when they change. I'm one that preferred Fern Britton pre gastric band.

I forgot about her breakup. Plus if she's trying to crack America she maybe mistakenly thinking you have to be extra skinny.
Lets hope she gets back to her normal self soon .

You forgot about it she only mentions it every five seconds I think they're more image conscious in America although undoubtedly the weight loss is down to the training - I bet she'll be advised to maintain that weight as they prefer their celebs really skinny

That is a delicious piece of gossip. Any more details or a link? Pretty pleeeease I read the Daily Mail article with Peta & Maks poolside that was quoted, but didn't see it there.

Does anyone here remember the fallout when Maks and Karina broke up? Tony & Val allegedly made some kind of rap video where they dissed Karina. I could never find it, so I'm not sure how real it is, but I read about it at TWoP. Up to two seasons ago, in the rehearsal studio, Maks covered Karina's face in posters.

Hi Topaz - not a problem - that guy is rather extreme to say the least isn't he? A few more people have joined us in challenging him, though! He must be exhausted composing all those ranting posts, I feel exhausted just reading them

UltraJane - re Katherine and a Strictly win, I'm not sure. The thing is there was absolutely no reason for her to do SCD because she's such an established star here and no need to raise her profile - doing DWTS was all about breaking into the America market so completely logical for her.

The other thing to bear in mind is that Katherine does tend to polarise people here - she has plenty of fans, but people who don't like her tend to really not like her IYKWIM - so who knows how this would have panned out had she done SCD. Plus you have the complication of her ex fiance who was a hugely popular Strictly star and the prevailing public view seems to be that she dumped him to pursue fame and fortune in the US - though, to be fair, no-one has a clue as to what really happened, but people will always have their ideas won't they. So she might have faced a bit of a backlash from that too.

Peta and Maks is a big :yawn::yawn: for me. Its their life so whatever. Im not completely sold on this new girl Peta(meaning as a pro on dwts) plus I think that Maks has become such a famewhore nowadays
I have always been a Karina's fan and I dont know why she used to get so much flack from everybody (not only for their breakup but as a dancer also).
Anyway the producers should be very happy with this development if there are still an item when the new season starts. I generally think its a bad idea when 2 people especiallly dancers on the show get involved but who knows?

Imho Katherine would have never made it to the final 5 or 6 if she were at strictly let alone win it. There are so many people who like her and at the same time a lot of people who hate her for one reason or another (well in the UK).Ok I understand why some people might think that she is fake(even though I dont agree) but Im so glad she did dwts instead because she had more of a chance to win here than in her own country.
And I dont want her for the All Stars Season.I supported her throughout the season but there are so many people that I want to see besides her. Since I know that they are going to include someone from this season(Please NOT MARIA! and she already said that she is interested)

BIB - It was definitely real!! No surprise that Val was in Maks' corner (but blimey!...so harsh and so public! ), but I was gobsmacked that Mark and Tony would be so partisan (and a bit childish) in public - they had to work with her after all. Whatever you think of Maks, it did seem as if Karina broke his heart. (It put me off her for ages ). Anyhow, it was good to see them apparently having put their differences behind them this season.

As to Katherine doing Strictly, I don't know how she would have gone down . Quite a few people seemed a bit sniffy about her doing DwtS, though...as if she'd snubbed Strictly (and the UK ). I think as others have said, she divides opinion. She has a sugary sweet image which a lot of people are quite cynical about (me included - but she really grew on me on DwtS - perhaps the same would have happened on SCD). I do think she had more to gain and less to lose by choosing to do the American show, and, as it turned out, it was a bit of a result .

It was a mighty relief when you all came in I was exhausted just thinking up replies and you challenged him way better than I ever could - I was going to leave the 'debate' if that's what you can call it because you all were doing so well but I've been naughty and left another post for him - I await with trepidation his possible ranty reply

I think Katherine would have definitely got to the finals if she'd done SCD - even though she might be a controversial figure - the producers like keeping controvesial contestants in because it brings them publicity no matter how good or bad they are - not sure if she'd have won though. I wonder if they'll ever invite her to do a Christmas special.

Thanks to everyone for links etc. especially Karma, fantabulous of you to give us all the news...Wow, I did not know about Peta and Maks getting together. I wish them all the best, because they are going to need it. Their every movement is going to be watched...Still, if you put yourself out there, people are going to be "interested" I do feel for people who are well known, especially with regards to their private life. Public life is one thing, but I know I would like my private life to be for me and me only..

Well it is Week 8 for our DWTS (Oz) this Sunday, 3rd June. Cannot believe how fast our season is going. Danielle Spencer is still in with pro dancer Damian Whitewood...I do see her going all the way to the final along with NZ actress Zoe Crammond who is fab on the floor. I said in an earlier post that I was waiting for Danielle Spencer's personality to appear, and it has improved a lot, but she is not as out going as Zoe Crammond, who is a very likable, bubbly type. I feel that Zoe has better body movement on the floor (I think she has had prior dance experience ) But as we know too well, it is the vote that gets them through....and I have been voting for them both I saw a few comments regarding Jessica Watson, and yes she was atrocious at dancing, but she gave it a go, and the public kept her in..(psst, I even gave her a few votes In the beginning she couldnt' even walk in heels, let alone dance in them. Russell Crowe has not made an appearance on the show (I thought he was filming in the UK ??) Probably a good thing, she is there in her own right, (well I like to think so) not just because she married to someone well known. Maybe if she gets to the final, he will make an appearance

Thanks for the news on your DWTS, have started watching the videos to catch up but somehow from the youtube poster think they are not in week order so getting a bit confused to work out who's doing what Think on one of the clips it said Zoe had ballet training. We did laugh about Jess but she does seem like a sweet girl and she tried so hard too, glad you gave her some votes.

Some celebs in the first few weeks oh my days were absolute beginners. One of my favourites was Shannon Knoll's jive, ha ha ha. He reminded me of a dog cocking it's leg, on one of the flicks and kicks lol. Seems more laid back on the Oz DWTS, the men in vests and jeans and they seem to wear trainers some of the time rather than dance shoes.

Johnny Ruffo seemed a bit full of himself to start with. I laughed when he had Derek's problem too and everyone made more of it, even him, when he said his trousers were very tight and was blushing lol.
