To be honest, the free version is perfectly fine if you just want to track basic walking or running.
Just having a quick look at the pro version .. you get the basic workout bit, set a goal (distance, time, calories).
Beat a friend - i guess the friend has to be registered with endomondo as well.
Follow a route - does what it says on the tin
Beat yourself - *snigger*
Manual entry - again, does what it says on the tin
But then you look at this from the website regarding the pro version.

“Basically, you get everything from the free version in addition to these new and very cool features:
On Android:
- Beat yourself: Set a previous workout as your target and the audio coach will help you perform better this time
- Headset control: Use the headset media button to get audio feedback and pause/resume a workout (Android 2.2+)”

“The app is currently priced at around $3.99. It’s a one time payment and it includes all updates and many cool features to come. We plan to raise the price as we add more features, so the sooner you buy it, the better a deal you make…”
I only bought the Pro version as it was 10p, but i still think 49p is worth it as well so i'd certainly buy it in case they do overhaul and update it in the future and you miss out.
