Matt to do the headbanger

What does everyone think about this? I think he'd manage to do it better than Sam did last year, didn't Brianne spend the whole time brushing the ice with her arm?

I hate seeing any of them doing the headbanger. I know it's clever and all that, but it is ugly move at best, and downright dangerous to boot. Isn't it banned from "proper" ice dancing (ie competitive sport) for that reason?

It doesn't really surprise me tbh. After I saw the standing entry to the float spin at the end of their routine last week, I thought we would most likely end up seeing the headbanger attempted in the near future!

I do think he could probably pull it off better than Sam as the entry into the float spin last week looked comfortable for him and didn't seem to be wobbly etc.

I do wish theyd come up with something new :S we get the same moves highlighted every time.

Good for him...hope it goes the right way for him too!!

I'm bored with the headbanger . it's just put in for shock value and the chance that someone will get hurt ... there are far more attractive lifts and tricks they could do and personally I'd prefer to see more skating based skills which are far more difficult than some of the supposed "showstopping" tricks

Well Nina is tiny so Matt has a bigger throwing circle than Sam did with Brianne.

Hate the headbanger when its being tackled by celebs its just too dangerous, doesnt matter if its the male or female celeb doing it its still dangerous and shouldnt be allowed as too many things can go wrong with it and have done in the past.
Roxanne Pallett still has a scar on her back from her first try at the headanger.

I agree Tracey. I won't be able to watch as I think it's too dangerous for a celeb to do (not so much if it's a female celeb)
His poor partner!

I think they just like to bring the crash helmets out in the VT's . it gives something for Schofe to bellow about in his quest to build up tention during the show

I remember the first time the tried it on the show and Bonnie cracked her head onto the ice so they brought the crash helmet out ..... to me it's way too dangerous for them to do

I really don't think they should let men do the headbanger.

Lifts are risky enough, if Matt (not saying he will) hits Ninas head on the ice, there could be serious repercussions.

Its bearable at least if a male pro is doing the headbanger, but the other way round just seems too dangerous.

Can we just not focus on the dancing?

In my experience whoever does the headbanger usually focuses too much on that part and then the remainder of the performance goes down hill and they are marked down by the judges.

The headbanger is just for shock value - and its getting boring now!

I thought it was an ice-skating show

I agree, surely having four or five props is enough to focus on, without concentrating on this aswell

I'm presuming the poster means dancing in terms of "dancing on ice" rather than all the tricks.... and I agree with them .......... too much emphasis seems to be put on one specific "trick" in a routine and often the rest of the routine is overlooked in the build up to that one particular trick.

Seeing as it's prop week this week and Matthew appears to have a number of props to incorporate into his routine .. whip, podium and a bottle (the mind boggles as to what he's going to do with a bottle ) .. to me it seems too much to throw in a headbanger too ... let's just see some good technical skating without the need for the tiresome headbanger

Edit: out posts crossed Patti .. we think alike

I hate the headbanger

It looks so ugly. There are much more graceful moves that they could do instead.

It is only a matter of time before someone (probably one of the pro girls) gets seriously hurt doing it. If I was one of the pro girls there is no way I would agree to doing it with a celeb and put my career in the balance.
