The headline of that article is a tad misleading. The article itself doesn't carry an actual comment from Apple about whether additional Siri functions will or won't come to the UK at any point.

Despite this, and despite it not affecting me directly, I still think it should have happened by now. You can't even use it properly in Canada!

Now you can actually turn the 3G off is it worth it?

First impressions after using phone this morning are that the battery issue does indeed seem to have been improved. % indication is reducing at a much slower rate despite the fact I have been listening to more music than normal, and travelling on a long distance train with lots of cell handovers.

Is it normal to be 100% at 11pm, no usage since then and on waking at 7am 95%?

Still having the same issue (haven't been sat here all night ).

Going to try downloading the file only, and seeing if I can at least get that far.

On 5.0.1 my battery life dropped on average 5% an hour so that's an improvement.

I'm certainly glad it's back.

For what reason?

When I'm at home, my phone will hold on to a very weak 3G signal rather than using full strength 2G. As I have wifi at home, there's no need for it to do this, so I usually just switch 3G off.

I'm sure I've always had the feature.

i got my iphone 4s a week ago and was not please with how short the battery life was after charged.

I downloaded IOS5.1 update early today and now the battery life is great. I updated and charged about 10am and its now 1425 and its still 100%. Normally after 4 hours it would be about 75%

By this time in the day my 4S is normally below 25%. Today it is still at 64%. V. Pleased the battery problem seems to have been fixed.

i couldn't get either iphone or appletv to download the updates at all (tested second iphone 30 minutes ago and still wasn't able to).

i narrowed it down to a DNS issue on my ISP (Sky). I temporarily changed the DNS server to OpenDNS and they downloaded instantly.

Yeah, I found the DNS thing worked for me in the end too - having wasted most of a day trying to figure out what was going on!!

Just hoping doing a restore from this morning's backup works without causing more headaches!

How much have you used it in the day then for it still to be so good. Or rather what have you used it for today, much?

So glad the battery drain has been sorted out.

People before you go thinking the battery problem has been resolved, consider this.

You have just updated the operating software on your iPhone, to do this it wipes the current settings, software and apps from it before installing the new version then copying everything back.

The battery issue is fine right now because you have technically restored the phone to factory settings, something Apple suggest you do anyway if you were having battery drain issues before.

So just because it is okay now, don't presume it is fixed until you've used it for a good couple of days etc and used it as you would have done before and made sure the problem hasn't come back.

no it doesn't.
we have delta updates now that don't wipe or re-install anything.

Well it re-installed the firmware and every app on mine this morning so maybe I don't have delta updates on my 4s.

All I'm saying is give it a couple of days then go skipping round happily because the standby and usage arent the same anymore.

did you do the upgrade direct on the iphone, or did you do a restore from itunes?

simply going to settings > general > software update will check for an update and install it direct on the phone. this is a delta update and only updates the changes to the OS (rather than installing the whole thing) - this does not require re-installing anything.

It is good to see Apple believes in open source data.

iPhoto actually uses Openstreetmap.

partially correct, although i suspect you're making a thinly disguised dig.

OSM is used in a part of iPhoto for iOS, but google maps is also still used as well.

Any one else having a problem updating, just sticks on connecting the iPhone software update server.
