I've never really heard any of his stuff apart from Brown Eyed Girl, but I borrowed my friends car and his cd was in the player so I've been listening to a lot of his greatest hits.

Isn't he great?!

My favourite artist of all time. Astral Weeks is my favourite album of all time also.

I've ordered Astral Weeks from Amazon, and another couple of his albums. I've only heard what's on the greatest hits cd in my friends car so I'm looking forward to hearing more.

I know I could download them but I do like to listen and sing along to stuff when I'm driving!

Lol. Very much so. Born 1945 so 67 years old almost. Still releasing albums and touring extensively. Get him on a good night and few are better. However, he's notoriously grouchy so get him on a bad night and, hmmm. His bands always contain amazing musicians, though. they can't get away with playing badly because Van can play many instruments himself to a very high standard, lol. His sax players are always top notch

Cant say I know all his stuff, but yep, Astral Weeks I've got, its beautiful, cosmic and perfect for those sunset moments. I've been meaning to get Moondance for ages!

He made some great albums in a ten year period from 67-77.

I would put Moondance at the top of that list personally.

My favourite track of his maybe Tupelo Honey.

I've seen George Ivan Morrison about 5 or 6 times.
He is simply one of the best artists of all time. He plays, writes and has made a number of brilliant albums from Astral Weeks through to the 1980s consistently and more intermittently since.
Try Veedon Fleece, St Dominic's Preview, Into the Music, Common One, Beautiful Vision, No Guru, No Method, No Teacher, Avalon Sunset. And that's only a sample.

He is a true Celtic Soul Brother, not many like him really. Essential listening sometime in your life, the sooner the better.
Steals the show in Scorsese's The Last Waltz.

And for any twihards (is that right?) reading Van is also Robert Pattinson's fave artist.

PS I would agree with all of the above album recommondations but would also include Tupelo Honey, His Street Band and Choir (both massively underrated imo due to them coming shortly after Astral Weeks and Moondance) and one of the best live albums ever made, It's Too Late To Stop Now.

I would agree with the above comment about Van and The Last Waltz, for anyone not seen it here it is.

Yes, I've always thought he looked like he'd a REALLY good time backstage before singing, lol.

But not as good as Neil Young though, he was wasted.
