Our Optoma projector has started to flash all the colours of the rainbow. Its fine until it warms up - about 15 minutes. Got a new lamp as the original was reaching the end of its life and I assumed that this was the reason, but having installed the new one the problem is still there. Anyone had the same problem who could tell me the cure, if there is one.

I'm assuming this is not the rainbow effect that is associated with DLP but something else?

Not heard of anything like this before, my guess would be it could be something to do with the colour wheel, the sensor made need a clean.

You may be better asking on the AV Forums, they have a dedicated PJ forum with lots of knowledgeable members, don't forget to mention the model number, if you have no luck there then give Optoma a ring, there technical department is very good.

Cheers for that mate. Rang Optoma service department and they agreed with you that its probably the colour wheel but it may be something else which I can't remember. A clean would cost £80 +VAT plus £20 P&P to send and another £20 to be returned. If its the bigger problem needing parts this would be £140 +VAT plus the carriage costs. All told its not worth it so I have decided to give it up as a bad job and get a big TV. You were right about their customer service - first class!

If you are confident enough you could carry out a clean yourself, pretty sure someone on a forum somewhere could run you through it, if that doesn't work you haven't lost anything.

Good luck which ever way you go.
