I've bought a new 3DTV & 3D Blu Ray Player, what in your opinion is the best film to showcase it (I'm not convinced). I can see the depth perception it gives on TV programmes but I want to see the whole coming-out-of-the-screen thing on a decent horror or something interesting... Ideas?

In terms of showcasing 3D, you can't go wrong with Avatar....although, that said, you'll probably be a bit "meh" about it...like me.

I don't think I've sat through a whole 3D film or TV broadcast at home. It's too much of a gimmick and, well, a bit naff really.....and that's with me using a well rated TV too!

Yeah i agree with Avatar being the best 3D movie so far. I have watched/bought other 3D movies but they dont stand out like Avatar did.

If you have access to SKY 3D then there's some excellent stuff shown on there. Kingdom of Plants, to be aired soon looks stunning from the clips shown.

I've heard animation showcases 3D very well, haven't got 3D but have seen some clips, A Chrismas Carol (Jim Carrey) was one, that looked very good, saw this on a 50" Panasonic plasma. Not the time of year to watch it though.

Yeah a christmas carol is amazing in 3D as is Mega mind. I also noticed that the sound from 3D BD's seems to be louder/better than that from just BD. I sat and watched "Transformers Dark of the Moon" in 3D and had the volume at the usual setting but I had to turn it down as it seemed too loud at times.

Personally I would say TT3D Closer to the Edge.

Guy Matin is so funny and a great racer.

We saw this on my dad and mums Samsung 55inch 1080p Full HD TV in silver. The silver surround on the TV is very, very thin.

And the 3D picture quality is a lot better than at a cinema.

I'm guessing the audio transfer just differs slightly from disc to disc, I find some BD's have different audio levels and some volume adjustment is needed, especially on action movies. Nothing to do with BD, but I remember one DVD that was very bad, Open Range with Kevin Costner, I had to wind the amp up to max to get any decent level out of it, this was a fault on the R2 disc, the R1 disc was fine.

Are you listening through a sound system or just the TV?

This thread reminds me of similar threads that used to appear when DPL, DD5.1 and HD audio first appeared, what was the best movie that showcased a particular audio format, generally you get good recommendations and pointers to something you may have missed or dismissed.

I listen through a Samsung 3D home cinema. I never use the tv speakers as most, if not all, flat screens sound pants
