Journey

Played a bit of this last night - and it is amazing... Properly amazing.

I was a fan of Flower (not so much with Flow) so I was really looking forward to this one, and it has not disappointed. It is more of a "game" than their previous titles, there is much more to do.

Graphically it is amazing - the sand moves brilliantly under foot and the whole ambience is incredible. The character movement is superb. When you climb to the top of a high dune, the character starts to struggle as it gets steeper. Then you get the pay off as you slide down the other side, which feels (briefly) like a snowboarding game - brilliant.

There is very little sign posting as to what you are meant to do. You start in the middle of the desert and you can see a couple of monoliths on high dune ahead - so I headed over there and the game kind of leads you on from there.

I haven't meet another player on my travels to date - but I am looking forward to doing so.

I can't wait to explore this further. Definitely recommended for those looking for something a bit different.

I played it earlier this evening. It's very good and very pretty. I also met and completed the game with a random. It's very helpful for powering up to get to some of those hard to reach places.

I played earlier. I love it. I met other people. I thought it was one person, but after an hour or so, a trophy popped up, the Wonder one (meet 10 other people or something).

I haven't finished the game yet. I was thrilled to learn you get monsters, Not so thrilled when they shortened my scarf, lol.

The friendly tassel-monsters are bizarre.

Does this game have sound? 3 times I've started it and there no music or sound effects. The screen on XMB plays music before I press X to start the game

Deleted & downloading again. Feel like I'm missing out on something if I carry on with no sound.

The sound adds massively to the experience, so hopefully you can get that sorted OMTT.

I have done one complete playthrough now. I think I met about 7 other players through the game. Which was really cool. Towards the end, where there is quite an ardious bit, me and the other player really stuck together to make it through. Even though there is no voice chat, the characters emit noises if you press the O button. So we encouraged each other along. It was a really unique co-op experience - very refreshing.

Really enjoying the game. It is short to play from start to finish, but I do think it will hold up to repeated plays. I am looking forward to taking a more leisurely explore of the world on my second go through.

Oh - and I loved

Yeah, I got the sound working. I just unchecked DTS, even though my amp is compatible.

Completed the game this morning & it was really, really good. You really feel for your character getting blown around & the struggle they go through with the climbs. Then at the end, you feel happy that they've reached there goal.

£9.99 may seem a bit much but it's a great experience that has to be tried to really appreciate it. I wasn't sure at first but by the second level, I started to understand what the fuss was all about.

I played through it myself offline on this playthrough but will play through again to meet with others on the journey & explore a bit.

It seems like a journey of life

I finished the game. I loved it.
One of the few games I didn't mute the music on (I usually hate music when I'm playing something).

It did make me laugh when the game lists the PSN titles of the players you met during the game. You have just come through this awesome, uplifting co-op experience to find that the guy you were playing it with was called XxZombiekillier or something similar...

Is there any way to see what collectibles you're missing? I've not got the trophy for collecting things but I collected quite a lot on my playthroughs buy don't have a clue what I may have missed or where.

This is one of the most remarkable things about the game. Even though you don't know who you're playing with, and your opportunities to communicate with them are limited to a symbol, this is the most attached I've ever felt to another person in a coop game.

Even though there's no real benefit to playing with another person, I still ended up hanging around and waiting for other players to catch up with me if I ended up getting ahead. You're happy to see companions walking over the horizon, and it's genuinely disappointing when you lose them, or they sit down to leave the game.

Just finished my first play of this game a few minutes ago; played it in total darkness except for the plasma tv and the surround sound system turned up loud. Wow! This game is more than just another game, it's very different from anything else I've played and was a properly amazing experience.

I met six other players on my journey. The visuals and soundtrack are beautiful.

I took mu first play through slowly looking around each area and met many different people during my Journey, but my second run through I had the same person from start to finish, both of us looking for the collectables and showing each other which ones we know about it was so much fun.

It reminds me of playing Counter Strike back in the day when a lot of communication was done using the torch, flashing your torch could tell players where to defend, get someone to boost you onto a high box ect. Its actually shocking how easy it is to communicate in-game with basic limited communication tools.

Played it through last night for the first time, and, WOW, Roger Ebert just lost the 'video-games aren't art' argument once and for all, this was just brilliant, and I felt genuine emotion at the end.

I pretty much rushed through it, so was done in well under 2 hours, but I'll definitely go back to it a few times.

It looks good but not willing to pay a tenner for 3 hours play.

A valid concern, but I actually think it represents pretty good value, and personally I'm more than happy to support a game that knocks it out of the park in terms of breaking away from the norms of gaming.

I've payed similar amounts to go to the cinema and see films that were shorter and were a damn sight less satisfying. Plus I couldn't watch them a second time on the same admission price!

While I agree I don't have the spare cash to spend £10 in any form of entertainment that lasts 3 hours. I'm sure it will be reduced and I will pick it up.

For example Netflix costs me £6 a month and gives me far more value in terms of hours for the price.

I think you misinterpreted my post to mean that it's not worth £10 when I meant I can't afford that for so little time lol

Completed this in one 2 hour session - wow .. absolutely amazing experience and I'm not ashamed to say I was a little emotional at the end - met 8 travellers in the game and got a few trophies as well - will wait 1 week to play through again and pick up another wee trophy in doing so. Highly recommended.
