far cry 3 does look very promising. I hated 2 with the stupid guns that didn't work, and silly malaria pills and getting ambushed at every crossroads while driving miles across the map for every mission.

LA Noire is interesting for about five minutes. Wow look at those facial movements, let's play deal or no deal for the rest of the game.

I just remembered another thing about far cry 2 that made it suck balls, repairing the jeep about every five minutes. I'm not so sure a ratchet on the radiator cap fixes everything.

Sorry for going off topic, but boy do I hate far cry 2.

I like COD:Black Ops, but I don't think it's the best shooter ever, it's really short and a bit repetative. It's good fun, just not a world beater.

As for games I think are underrated I'd say Darksiders. I bought it pre-owned for £25 not long after it came out (bought it on the strength of the writing on the back of the case) and absolutely loved it. It's become one of my favourite ever games and I don't see it mentioned very often. Darksiders 2 comes out in July and I can't wait.

Call of Duty. All of them seem the same- short cliched single player with so many explosions, you can't think, followed by endlessly shooting people online- a lot of whom spend their entire lives playing it and will be better than I ever will be

I've always felt like the later additions to the Tomb Raider series were greater games than they were ever given credit for, in their own right anyway, while its easy to remember Lara's 'glory days' and she may not have the same impact as she had back then, its almost always a factor when reviewing a modern Tomb Raider to compare it to the PS1 classics where nostalgia has an obvious influence to drag down modern scores. Tomb Raider Anniversary being the main example, 'not like Tomb Raider 1' was often cited as a reason for lowering its overall score in reviews, when in truth its a fantastic little game in its own right.

Also, just picked up South Park Rally on PS1, can't wait to play it as I remember it having an excellent single-player mode with plenty of unlockables, but the reviews for it are just awful!

Grand Theft Auto 4 - I hated the checkpoints system with a vengence and I found the game was very shallow despite the incredible enviroment. the game irritated the hell out of me for some reason despite everyone else loving it, about 80 percent of it seemed pointless to me.

I got gta 4 and spent 99% of the time online because I found the story so boring. I do think freemode online is fun. There weren't many other games that offered that sort of online experience at the time.

I would go on youtube and look at some of the videos first, just to make sure it's your thing. If you have an XBox it does have frame rate issues, but overall it's pretty solid.

I consider it the XBox equivalent of Beyond Good and Evil, an absolutely awesome game that, somehow, hasn't had the recognition it deserves.

EDIT: Which also raises another game, Beyond good and Evil was an awesomely fun game that I played years ago on the GC. Everyone I've talked who's played it has loved it, but aside from those who played it no-one seems to have heard of it.

Vice versa: Shadowrun.

It was completely slated and ended up failing because it had no campaign, but the online multiplayer is still one of the most fun games I've ever played. A shame they didn't put a little more effort in for the reviewers, it deserved to be much more successful.

Gears of war - a horrible, clunky mess of a game where over sized idiots run around 'Oh ra'ing' and high five'ing each other with slightly homoerotic undertones! Never have and never will get why people keep playing it!

Sonic - whats the point of sonic? Really I just don't get it at all. The only thing I look forward to is the Sonic game where he ends up getting burned after trying to hibernate under a bonfire!!

Anything by Peter Molyeneux (sp?:P) Whilst you have to admire any man that can stand in front of a crowd and spew so many lies and believe them I have found his games to be truly disappointing to the extent sticking a sharpened pencil in my eye is often and easier option to playing his games!

Agree with Gears of War. It also annoys me that bullets travel at like 5mph in those games! And the story is awful, the steroid junkie characters are worse than the rock in fast and furious and the story just seems to be, there are monsters so shoot them. lol. I think they're the kind of action man type characters that appeal to 10 year olds.

I love a FPS and the campaign modes, but i hate playing online in stupid fragfests and nuclear missile avoiding levels, and people who spend 9 hours a day on the same level

4 on 4, one weapon 1 shot kills, 3 burst semi auto, team based strategy - I think like Rainbow6 on PC would be much better - serious tactical shooter

If you take a bolt action sniper Rifle into CQB you should die because you're a fool....

I never once got into playing GTA, not since it went 3D....

Haven't ever enjoyed Fifa. and I loved Pro Evo Soccer on the N64/PS1, but not any longer......

Nor Fallout 3, Im struggling with Bioshock - I just don't seem to get into it enough to want to play more

A game i loved was Medal Of Honor (2010), and BFBC2 much more like a FPS than MW3 was.

Shame because my 360 has just died (3 red lights)

(see my 360 died thread for any advice ,cheers

Darksiders doesn't have any frame rate issues on Xbox, it used to have really horrible tearing but a title update was brought out to V-Sync it to 30 fps and it doesn't dip below that too often from my experience.

Darksiders is really the closest you will get to Zelda on PS3/360. It's nowhere near as good as the best Zelda games but it borrows a lot of the fundamentals that make the gameplay so compelling.

- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Just found this to be incredibly dull and tedious. Western RPGs really aren't my thing.

- Resident Evil 4 - Had this been called "A Spanish Ruckus" with lead protaganist Jeremy Smith, then I probably would have loved this game. As a mad Resi fan though, they took the name and replaced everything that was great, turning it into some faux pas action type.

- Final Fantasy XII - I like the FF series, but practically everything about this one sucked. The flat and shallow characters, the story, the new fighting system. Just terrible.

Street Fighter IV - This might just be because I suck at it, but I find the whole fighting system utterly baffling.

I really didn't get the hype for Haze.

I know it won a tonne of awards and unimaginable critical acclaim, but it just didn't work for me personally.

Wasn't Haze critically slated when finally released? A 55 on Metacritic, a 56% on Gamerankings. 4/10 from Eurogamer, 6/10 from Gamespot, 6.5/10 from IGN.

I've never managed to get into a Zelda game, and it's not for the want of trying. Mario 64 I do like but I'm not convinced it's a classic by any means. FF7's random, pointless battles had me giving up with it a few hours in as well.

Wait the battles are pointless, do tell of this other way to level up your character and magic

Seconded on Assasins Creed. I can't stand it.

Found Gran Tourismo a little bit dull at times too.
