Me neither!! Just because 'Hard Candy' was not a MASSIVE era, I want her to come back with a bang! I'm optimistic, though. The first week sales will be huge, so maybe that will encourage her to take more risks as far as the single releases go. She's MADONNA anyway, not every single has to be top 10! And as Britney's latest era proved, releasing the most safe, obvious singles doesn't always mean the public will buy the album (or the singles for that matter ). Madonna has a great album in her hands, she can really push the envelope
Yeah totally Hard Candy had such potential for possible hits though because it was an album designed to be current for contemporary Pop Music (i still blast it and sounds fresh!) but commercially and promo etc was all very underwhelming really.

Whereas with MDNA we pretty much know first week sales will put her in the guinness world records methinks ...again...what is it with her setting new records . But would be immense to showcase Im A Sinner, "gang bang" (as you say a Bang!!) and Falling Free as the massive album ballad and that way we will know we have three other releases more experimental from the cut...and Turn Up The Radio which sounds like it will be a smash and have wide appeal too that way it will be a perfect mix of 3 more commercial/radio friendly smashes and 3 more left-of-centre/absurd/massive songs too

Well that's what amuses me about this constant moaning from these 'fans', Josh. They keep pretending they want her to come out with an album as challenging and groundbreaking as ROL or as dancey as Confessions when infact all they want it's ROL or Confessions part 3,4,5 and so on...But I bet you, if she had given them what they wanted they'd be the first to moan because she's recycling her sound!???...A bit like they're doing now with GGW's video teaser
I'm more and more excited with MDNA as I read the reviews. Not that I wasn't before but because we didn't know much about its direction, I was more intrigued than excited. seems like some gems have been left off the Standard version, which is a bit odd, and Gang bang, Beautiful Killer, I'm A Sinner, Love Spent & I Don't Give A have potential to be singles/hits!

I love that you think so similar to me Alex. Why do some want her to do and repeat the same ground.....just repeat those albums again, they are immense as they are as standalone chapters. Heck the Music album criticised Orbit for doing similar sounds as ROL on his songs with M there...like seriously WTF?? And it really looks here to have a KILLAH set of songs though. I mean I love Like A Prayer for the album it is, i love Erotica, ROL, Music, COADF for the albums they are...i dont want more of the same i always want a new fresh, exciting Madonna album...and MDNA will tick those boxes and add more...i just really cannot wait.

And yes the excitement was mainly out of intrigue...will the album be Indie/Dance/Rock??? etc and now we get a picture painted Hard Techno/Trance elements Rock N Roll elements/ Retro Pop/Dance Pop/Old Skool vibes

And yeah many have mainly criticised that a couple immense songs were left on the deluxe disc (Beautiful Killer and Best Friend has a lot written about them) for example.

I really disliked all of Hard Candy being honest. Its my least played Madonna album and I never managed to get into the era at all.

For me where Hard Candy failed was the fact Nellie had done it already, and dare I say better, so it just felt like Madonna for the very first time in her career had followed the pact rather than led it.

I wouldn't say Hard Candy was a bad album it just wasn't, for me, a Madonna album.

It is funny saying that though because so many were off put by the fact that it was those producers she worked with and not new Urban producers etc.

But also that is was a Madonna album where she basically lost her identity and herself...she was M-Dolla for the era. And it is funny because it evoked her debut album Madonna and put it in a contemporary spin...and predominantly it isnt really an 100% R&B record...it is more Synthpop...Hip Pop?? maybe. But yeah

Controversially True Blue is my least played album of hers in the collection whereas i only just played Hard Candy blasting it as i am cleaning my room out

I think she lost her sound and her identity on Hard Candy. There was no real intense emotion on there and this is what we had come to expect from Madonna. The only song which let us into her world was Miles Away.

Yeah oh my days...would be awesome if there were snippets of NKM and SNM! and with "whos that girl" too

Yeah like a kinda Anime/Manga/Rave! segment of distorted colours and robotics and punky styles would be beyond sublime...i have massive vibes from this...she has been so attention to detail with everything i am so excited to hear news and reports on concepts etc.

Especially with reviews so positive coming in about MDNA having these darker, techno, experimental and new sounds through the album it will really work in such a concept.

Identity, Journey, Self Identity, Cloning, reinvention, sci fi, can combine these elements so well methinks on tour, in visuals etc.
Actually thinking of it S+S tour contained some elements of it in the last section didn't it? And it was quite dark in some places but perhaps we need more theatrics for the dark stuff in this tour. That's what I loved about the SB - the theatrical aspect of it at some moments.

P.S - my previous post was in response to your second reply but just in case you wonder where it's come from

I'm sure I'll sound like a broken record as I keep saying it each time HC is being debated. but I do think has the album been overseen by Pharrell, it would have fared much better. Ironically her work with him sounds like closer to who she is to me than her work with Timb/Timb when they're meant to have dealt with some personal themes in these songs. Bjut then, if Pharell was the sole producer, I bet she would have been accused to do a Gwen stephani on us!?
I'd disagree that HC sounds like a bad version of Loose - and I know that's not what you said. It is very much a Madonna album and even if it wasn't as personal as it should could have been, we are in familiar territories, with some hints at intimate aspects of her life (Incredible, Devil, Voices, Miles Away) but perhaps because of the production being over-thought, the final result wasn't loose enough... ((no) pun intended)

You and I seem to get her in similar ways, aren't we? - Wait until Guy Oseary picks up some of our theories and we'll be like Mert &Marcus for the next era!??
I was worried about this to be honest. Usually it's never a good sign when left-overs are hailed as standout tracks!? But now, I wonder if it wasn't intentional. It's like, depending on which version you go for you'd have two different albums - the up-close & personal one and the happy-go-liberating version of MDNA...

Yeah i meant DWT and S&S had "Rave" elements. But with the sounds on MDNA i reckon there will be a different spin on it...not just strobe lights/androids stuff but actual full on theatrics as you say. The Super Bowl performance really showcased Madonna as a theatrical entertainer definitely by working with the Cirque! So by doing so with the world tour definitely will be phenomenal stuff indeed!

M&P for the next era! here we come!!!

Yes, it's pretty insane our opinions seem to be so similar but it's all good - Cannot wait either to see what happens with this era. At least they seem to have reversed the situation marketingwise. Seems like the previews has been picked by so many online mags/blogs/media across the genres!!!

You know how the saying goes about beauty? the same goes about art - you must suffer to make it/yourself beautiful...And she certainly does!?
Yes, I have a Facebook page but I almost never use it since Twitter found me - I'm on it too! - and found it much easier to interact on there than on Facebook. But try me on both if you're on Twitter and let's have more Madge-stic chats on there too

i am not one for paying much attention to reviews to be honest. some records have huge acclaim and they are truly terrible in my opinion and vis-versa. however, it is great when a record you are expecting to like gets the critics seal of approval nonetheless and even if the album tanks now it will still be critically acclaimed. who would have thought this could happen after the mixed response to the singles so far?

So true! - considering that usually she gets mixed reviews with her albums (ROL and Confessions maybe aside) it is even more astonishing that the majority of the press seems to unanimously think positively of MDNA...Let's hope the album get some longevity in the charts now!

a hit single wouldn't go a miss too. i was just reading a review by john mitchell, whoever he is. however, he seems to think that `turn up the radio` is her potential hit and said it is the best thing she`s done since `hung up`. we can only hope and i pre-ordered the cd single of `give me all your luvin` to show willing.

cant wait for the album regardless and a good sales run would be a bonus.

I have a feeling Turn Up The Radio will be the 3rd single. Everyone who has reviewed the album has said the same thing about it being this eras Hung Up, so if that has been noted I can see them releasing it in time for summer.

Yeah most reviewers said it's the most radio friendly track of the album.

I wonder how many of these MAJOR web sites, mags that give it good reviews - will have exclusive interviews, front cover photo-shoots at a later date .The entertainment media reeks of this type of thing - it's called a symbiotic relationship.

So i think we can safetly say that Turn Up The Radio will possibly be the next major release from MDNA by the sounds of things and vibes i am picking up...not to mention also that the MDNA minimix had is as the third preview too!

I just hope radio playlist it though, i mean there is such a thing as calling a song "radio friendly" but there is another thing saying whether they will play it or not....which they should have already with Luvin and Wild tbh. But we will soon see, with critics raving about it (which they didnt do with the previous two singles) radio are sure to latch onto the MDNA campaign
