Brilliant! That was flawless, really good. That song is so much better acoustic and Alexandra did a fantastic job of it, great vocals too.

She has a great voice but the covers of other people's songs she's been doing recently only highlight how bad her own material is in comparison.

Elephant isn't as bad as people make it out to be.It's actually great, I think it's fair to say that dance/electro house produced tracks are taking over. So If your just not into that sort of music your just going to have to deal with it.

Really? I'm not really a fan of Alex but Talk That Talk is worse than most of what she's put out. At least Alex can vary her vocabulary from song to song, jeez. (and yes, I'm aware Alex contributes about as much to her songs as Rihanna does anyway)

I disagree, I think it's going to be a more even playing field now with artists like Adele & Ed Sheeran presenting a more stripped back style of music and it's paving the way for other artists like them. Whereas 2010 and parts of 11 were dominated by dance-pop music.

Either way I don't see a problem with her doing a couple of covers on the run up to the album release, it's just something for the fans to enjoy.

I think Talk That Talk is one of the worst Rihanna singles but it's still a lot better than any of Alex's songs! Which is a shame becuase she has a great voice, as I said. I just think her material lets her down and she could be a lot better than she is.

I think All Night Long is better than quite a few Rihanna tracks...plus her duet with Bruno Mars and also The Silence/Before The Rain....Some of Alex's stuff isn't the best, but she still does well with what she has...

I know and her leaked material for the Overcome Era was phenomenal, it's a shame Syco let all that material go to waste.

She's been working heavily with Rico Love (All Night Long) for the second album, so hopefully we're in for a treat...

Well she's only had 1 album so it's not really fair to judge yet. And in terms of debuts, Alex's was better overall than Rihanna's. Rihanna in comparison has money thrown at her left and right, so of course she's going to be better, the woman is nothing more than a hit factory. Talk that Talk IMO isn't better. I'd prefer All night long. But I love watch n learn. TTT lost its appeal for me very quickly.

I don't think those named paved the way for anything. There were acoustics before them. It's an industry thing, music is becoming digital and electronic music takes over it makes sense. Some don't work with electro. I thought the cover was OK, but I prefer Rihanna's version. It doesn't work for a powerhouse IMO.

Guess it's a matter of opinion but I think things have evened out alot more, chart-wise. Electronic music isn't as dominant as it used to be in the top 40 and I think Adele has paved the way, in some respects, for artists like Emeli Sande, Lana Del Rey and others that'll follow.

I wouldn't say paved. Simply because Lana's music was being recorded/finalised when she was having success. Even if electro was dominating, Lana is so different that she'd stick out. Same for Emeli. And Emeli's debut was an electro track anyway. IMO, it was more Alicia keys (chart wise) and then in the Uk, Joss stone and Amy winehouse, rather than adele. She just continued the trend. She's done very well though. Just shows people can pay attention if you force it in their faces (ie Brits 2011). But yes, opinion. I think dance was/is still big, but the big singles were released in mid 2011. And in late 2011, the market was empty for new releases.

I'd argue Heaven was more trip-hop, 90's dance as apposed to this current 'in the club' dance.. if that makes sense aha. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree there.

Oh I'm not denying this wave of music is dying out, it's still very much there and thinking about it, you're right about timing, I'll give you that . Summer will be filled with dance songs again from the usual suspects (David Guetta, Flo-rida etc) all I was saying is it's evened out abit more and I think the intrusion of artists like Adele, Ed Sheeran etc have helped this

I remember that, but yes it is, but in the grand scheme of things, most would see it as electro. It reminded me of my childhood! They've helped I suppose, and summer is the party time which IMO is cool. But constantly it can be a bore. It can be dance, but lyrically have a point. Most don't though.
