i think this song is the coolest song from beyonce's 4 album. imo i think this song should be a bigger hit than where it peaked and its still performing right now on the america billboard hot 100 at no.54 and debuted at no.20 due to the strong digital downloads it received after she performed it at the vmas. but its been no.1 for a few weeks on the r&b charts. should this song be getting more success than it already is.

Love on top is one of the best songs to have come out in the last 10 years

Such a classic song and it's getting the credit it deserves

It's great to still have a motown sound in our world of generic trash

I absolutely love this song. Love the retro vibe and the way the chorus builds.

Beyonce is a treat.

I am no Beyonce fan, mainly because her songs (to me) have been utter garbage and have not showcased her true talent. Love on Top, is just what she was made to sing! I hope she releases more of the same.

This song is amazing. I absolutely love it. I would say it actually was quite a big hit in the UK, as it was in the chart for a long time.

RnB music doesn't do well in the charts at the moment, so Love On Top has done great considering. Such an uplifting song.

I do love this song. Can't help singing along (badly) when it comes on the radio.

I preferred Countdown.

I'm one of the Beyonce fans who was really underwhelmed by '4', but Love on Top is by far the best track on it .

It annoys me so much. The way she keeps changing key...something about her voice doesn't sit right with me. It gives me a headache. I'm not a hater, she is very very talented but this song especially just seems like a song purely designed to say "Look at my awesome voice and how much I can belt". Which I hate...

Whereas her vocal ability on this song is nothing short of impressive, the song doesn't really have any substance. It's mostly just the same verse repeated.

The vocals, the music, it's all there, but the lack of bridge or another verse makes it repetitive even if the constant key change is impressive.

IMO it's calling out for a Bruno Mars collab.

Album version has another verse.

That's the one I listen to. It's still very repetitive.

The only song from the 4 era that I like.

Not really. She's just modulating, and it's using a very black churchy rhythm to it. It's very church like, with the key changes and all...it's impressive, as most can't do that. She's singing in a way she's never sung before.

Really? I skip to the chorus, it's the bit I love most.

The best thing she's done in years, I absolutely love all the modulations. I like that she tried out different sounds and experimented with unconventional song structures on 4. Just a shame that two of her best singles (Countdown and Love on Top) are on the same album as two of her worst (Best Thing I Never Had and Run The World)...

Agreed. I love the experimentality. I want more LOTs, End of times and Countdowns from her. I love Schoolin life too.

I agee aswell. And the good thing about 4 is that I feel Beyonce loves that type of music so much. She probably grew up listening to songs like Love on Top and End of Time.

Whilst songs like Sweet Dreams, Telephone, Radio, etc. are good songs, I doubt Beyonce has quite that same passion for that style of music.

Love this song at the gym, I wish it was MORE repetitive. I could run for at least another 20 minutes of her repeating the chorus.
