I want to do this too, but at the moment I just can be bothered to cancel my UK account, create a US account to get the player activated.
If only it was a simple case of changing DNS and activating through the account I already have.

I have tried to alter the DNS settings but no joy

What exactly have you done so far?

To change the DNS make the follow selections:
Network Settings>Internet Settings>Wired>Custom>Auto>Manual>input DNS numbers>No>Save.
Once you change the DNS you need to refresh the Internet content list. Highlight the video section and press options on the remote then select Update List. Netflix should now appear in the list.

You will also need to input the DNS settings into a device with a browser(or directly into your router) to create a US Netflix account to activate the player to use the service.

I have used Unotelly. They give instructions on their website. No need to alter settings in router. They will give you the DNS you need. You can then enter them into your pc network settings and into your bluray. You can also use Amazon Instant Video on the bluray and this comes under the free Unotelly package. Netflix is premium package which is aprox 3.50 I think. You also get lots more via pc eg. EpixHD, HBO and more. Unotelly do a free trial so you can give it a try.

Instead of messing around with your router, why don't you just enter the DNS settings into your PC/Laptops network settings?

You can only do it with an actual setup US Netflix account.
Log into your Netflix account and click on Manage Devices then disconnect devices (it may take a little time for the player to tell you it's been deactivated) then try the following.

Quote:
“You HAVE to sign up with a US Netflix account - a UK one will not work and you need to re-register your Sony product at http://internet.sony.tv.

Make sure you have unblock-us DNS setting in your Blu Ray player or on your router - if you dont do it via your router then you will also need them in the computer to sign up for a US Netflix account.

1. Sign up for a free Netflix trial - Create a new account with a different email. Search Google for a US zip code (or just use 90210) and enter your credit card details - YOU CANNOT USE A NON US PAYPAL ACCOUNT.

2. Go to http://internet.sony.tv and sign in (or create a new account if you have not already), go to Manage Products and de-register the device your using with Netflix.

3. On your Blu Ray player go to Netflix, this time you should get a message to go to https://internet.sony.tv/netflix and enter the code on the screen.

4. Go to https://internet.sony.tv/netflix and log in again. "Click on Yes, I want to register a new product", Enter the code and click Validate.

5. Enter your device purchase date (any date will do) and click Continue.

6. Your TV screen should change no and ask "Are you a member of Netflix?) choose Yes. You should now see another code.

7. Go to http://www.netflix.com/activate and enter the code on your TV screen and click Activate.

You should now have Netflix!”

Without any info other than 'I just cannot get anything' it's pretty hard to work out what the problem is.
Once it's done you should see THIS once you have refreshed the list.

"The service cannot be accessed at this time because the server replied with incorrect or invalid information"

Any ideas GONZO?

Did you try doing this by activating it with the same Netflix account you setup for UK Netflix?

Mmmmm I don't know.
I get that message because I thought it was because I was activating with my UK account but logging in via US server.

Thanks for your help,

I did a quick test, and signed up a new free US trial, and logged in, and it worked first time.

I guess it's just not happy on the Bluray, but fine on the Xbox. Oh well it either cancel the UK subs and go for a full US account or just stick with the Xbox netflix instead.

Cheers again GONZO
