Wouldn't mind seeing Alastair Down back on in some form, but I think they'll go for someone from 'outside' racing for the lead presenter role.

Not convinced this is good news myself, but as long as Royal Ascot and Epsom get good viewing figures all is rosy, apparentely.

Jeremy Kyle - really, would they stoop that low and what does Inverdale have to do with racing being a rugby man ?
Kyle is a defo turn off for me.

The last television programme involving a horse I saw on ITV was Black Beauty! Talking of which, how about that for the theme tune?!

It's good that horseracing will still be on Terrestrial TV
Could ITV bring back their "ITV 7" format from yesteryear??

It's just a bookies odds list.

They'll probably put Barry Manilow and Prince Charles on there if you ask.

Kyle is only mentioned because he's an owner and has appeared on C4 a few times

Jeff Stelling could be good. He has anchored The Winning Post for many years and could do Cheltenham & the big summer meetings for ITV?

Not everyone can be an expert, so why don't you get off your high horse.........

He didn't say that. He suggested Stelling could present the big summer meetings and the festival.

Very interesting discussion on the Sunday forum just.
Suggesting 2 styles of coverage (an event one and a fans one) for the different channels.
Also digesting what wrong on 4 (there wasn't enough fun was one suggestion)
The key thing for me is ITV will have a completely free reign. Racing will not impose their views.

Jeremy Kyle is quite often on Channel 4 Racing he is an owner and huge fan.

Inverdale has hosted the Derby, National, Ascot etc etc on radio for years.

Jeff Stelling will not give up his summer holidays to go presenting horse racing for a month or two ridiculous idea.

That is responsible for putting me off Racing for life (aside from the National). As a kid it used to bore me senseless that they did seven consecutive races

I suppose it depends on his ambition. Stay with Sky to read out a few scores on a Tuesday night, or present the Grand National, one of the biggest events of the year.

Exactly which proves the comment from Hyperspontage was rather silly

Wouldnt it be wonderful if ITV could tempt Jim McGrath to come out of retirement and commentate for them, a trio of Holt, Hoiles and McGrath on the national would be incredible

I hope not. Not a good commentator at all. Made far too many mistakes. Wouldn't have him in my top 10

Holt and Hoiles are the best in the business for me and ITV should start there when choosing their team.

Stelling has previously turned down ITV to keep doing Soccer Saturday/Specials

I wouldn't look too much into the bookies' list on things like this, there's often a 'next MOTD presenter' market and there's some short prices which just won't happen

Was that when he was presenting the Champions league?

No it was around the mid 2000s - Stelling got MNF after that but it wasn't anywhere near the profile it is now

But he's done The Winning Post during the summer Months.
I'm not implying he quits Soccer Saturday but he could feasibly do the big summer meetings and still have six weeks off.
It was only a thought..
