Do you ever read anybody else posts ? You always seem to post what somebody else posted a few weeks or days earlier

Paralympics, quite rightly, taking centre stage on C4. The St Leger meet has been on More 4 all week

Anyone know why Sky go wouldn't let me view more 4? Said something about licence? Just checked now and can watch whatever on there now.

Sky Go were having problems across the board earlier today. I was having problems trying to access it during the afternoon

I notice that Darren Owen was the St Leger commentator on Radio Five Live instead of John Hint.

It was said just before Owen started commentating (on an earlier race) that Hunt was in Ireland.

Racing Post reporting that John Hunt has signed a new three-year contract with the BBC......would like to be a fly on the wall in the Holt and Hoiles households tonight!

He's got a fabulous role with the BBC. All the big race meetings, football, Olympic Games & he did Wimbledon also

Here is the link for it

It is a shame ITV couldnt get hold of him but hopefully Holt and Hoiles will switch over, both fantastic racing commentators. The article leans towards Hunt having a preference for not only doing racing and 5 Live gives him that opportunity.

It is somewhat ironic on the day that the BBC loses one of its most successful programmes, one of it's top radio sports commentators - who was half expected to depart to ITV - decides to stay with the Beeb and with a diverse portfolio.

(This is similar in a way to Michael Vaughan covering cricket for BBC Radio, as opposed to being on Sky, as the latter will pigeonhole him for cricket commentary only, whereas on the Beeb, he can host phone-ins on Five Live and work on other sports - though don't let him near the golf again!)

Good on him in a way for staying loyal to the Beeb, i think many in his situation would of made the switch given the chance.

All eyes now will turn to who they will actually pick now, clearly Simon Holt was never number 1 candidate so i doubt they will go back for him now, someone could be in line for a very big promotion, take your pick!

Could it be someone not on the current commentators roster ? Maybe a total change ?

Stewart Machin doesn't seem to be getting much of a mention.

Like who ? If they aren't a current horse racing commentator they wont get the job of horse racing commentator will they ? Its an incredibly hard sport to commentate on.

I took this as maybe a suggestion as someone from abroad. Someone who commentates in Hong Kong or Australia perhaps?

Well it's going to be a bit awkward going to Simon Holt or Richard Hoiles, as everyone knows they are not first choice, but you would think they would both be keen to do it. Realistically most of the course commentators are perfectly capable, Machin is but as are Darren Owen, Ian Bartlett and many others.

I think John Hunt has made the right decision, I do not know what cash is involved but I think this might be a flop as far as ITV as concerned and they will not renew the contract.

I doubt that we ever will hear for certain what happened. If true that whoever comes in will always know that they are the second choice.

So looks like OLD channel 4 faces will be returning but unlikely that Simon Holt will be there even though Hunt decided to stay at 5live..

Wonder if Derek Thompson will be returning?
