Oli Bell will present ITV’s weekly racing morning magazine show and Richard Hoiles will be the lead commentator, joined in the commentary box by Mark Johnson. Experts on the team include Hayley Turner, Mick Fitzgerald, Jason Weaver, Luke Harvey and Brian Gleeson. Brough Scott will also appear as a regular guest offering his insight 30 years on from when he presented ITV’s Racing coverage.

Frankie Dettori will be a regular contributor to the programmes working around his riding commitments and Victoria Pendleton will bring her perspective to the channel’s coverage.

Alice Plunkett, Rishi Persad and Sally-Ann Grassick all have reporting roles. Lucy Verasamy will provide reports on one of the key elements of any racing meeting – the weather.

These new appointments follow the announcements earlier this year of Ed Chamberlin as ITV’s main racing presenter and his co-presenter for the Flat season, Francesca Cumani, as well as Matt Chapman as betting presenter and reporter.
Cheers mate

Just a few point's on this, if Cumani is a co-presenter on the flat would it be right in saying that Chamberlin would be on his own for National Hunt?

Also i would assume Chamberlin would present most of the racing but if meeting's clash would the like's of Plunkett, Persad take on a presenting role?

I don't think there would be any need for anyone other than Chamberlin or Cumani to present, except perhaps if Chamberlin was ill or on holiday outside of the flat season.

Not the best lineup that ITV could have had but certainly not the worst either. Why they wanted Fitzgerald though i find perplexing. He has always seemed the odd one out on both BBC and C4.

Plunkett is a good one to have, she is very good during the jump season. Persad just seems a safe option more than anything else. Hoiles will be good as the lead commentator. He is very good and it will be interesting to see him step out of Holts shadow.

Nick Luck has been very good for C4 but you just cant fit him in anywhere. Once Chamberlain was announced that was the end for him. But i hope that is not the last we see of him on terrestrial tv.

Why have Victoria Pendleton as part of the coverage? Very poor decision for me.

Because they don't want to make the same almighty cock up channel 4 have made in making it too middle class and forgetting about Joe Public. She is somebody who is very well known to the casual viewer.

The ITV line-up looks a bit flabby in terms of numbers but I'm assuming that as its 100 days a year these are part time jobs for most of the presenters and they will mix and match them throughout the year.

Graham Cunningham and Nick Luck were excellent for Channel 4 and its very unfair that there is no place for them yet Mick Fitzgerald ( talks a lot but says nothing) and Tony McCoy ( arguably the greatest jockey ever but awful as a pundit) have jobs.

I'd be surprised if racing on terrestial tv hasn't had its day really and moving it to ITV wont do anything for viewing figures.I love racing and enjoy watching it on TV and apart from C4 not quite being able to bring the gravitas to the big meetings that the BBC used to there really wasnt much wrong with their coverage as a whole.
In my experience serious punters don't seem to be interested in much other than the race and casual observers only watch races in which theyve had a bet.

Surprise about Brough Scott and certainly glad Alice Plunkett will remain.

Very glad to see Nick Luck, Enna Spencer and certainly Jim Macrath go to name a few.
delighted for borough as we share the same birthday

It is sad that that is the case though. Dont think that C4 made it too middle class. They did have Gok Wan fashion reports after all.

Big hint that McCoy wasn't going to ITV was him last weekend going on about how he was heading into TV retirement already and having a joke about it!

Alice Plunkett. The Lorraine Kelly of horse racing broadcasting. Just like the evergreen Scottish lassie on breakfast TV over the past 30 years, she seems to survive the presenter cull.

She is the only person from the C4-Highflyer era going forward with ITV in 2017.

So no more Balding, it's a long wait until the 2020 Olympics although she will presumably still do the Boat Race for the BBC.

There is plenty for Balding to present. The Winter Olympics and Paralympics are in 2 years time and she has plenty of other events to present including Equestrian from Olympia, Badminton and Burghley. Wimbledon highlights, Cycling world championships, her BT Sport chat show, her weekend Radio 2 slot. There is plenty still there for her.

Oli Bell interview. A shame the report mixes up Rupert and Michael Bell. ITV have a test day at Cheltenham this Friday and they will also be at Wincanton on Saturday 5 November.

A very ITV feel to the C4 coverage today. With Richard Hoiles commentating from Doncaster and Mark Johnson at Newbury. Ian Bartlett could still be the 3rd commentator for ITV, maybe for the Grand National. He was at Cheltenham today.

Yes today was a great days racing with so much action. Was it 10 races on C4 ? Fabulous. Mark Johnson and Barty were the course commentators so not specifically working for 4 today, they would have been heard on RUK too.

Nice little line from Graham Cunningham and Jim McGrath today about Rishi getting two winners on the team tips today. "No wonder he is in demand during the transfer window".
