I really don't think anyone can complain about those fixtures being on the main channel.

Without going over old ground too much I'd prefer more jump racing and feel it would get the bigger audience. But that's just my opinion.

Apologies if I've missed it, but is there a list of ITV4 fixtures anywhere?

Not that I've seen.

I don't doubt that the final list won't be too different to that currently shown by C4, give or take the odd supporting meeting and the return of the Craven fixture.

I never understood why C4 dropped the Craven meeting, especially as there's usually a Cheltenham meeting on at the same time and they could easily have put in a 3 & 2 five race programme 1.30 - 3.10 and be out in time for Countdown and Deal.

Another loss to terrestrial over the years was the scrapping of Friday coverage when the Beeb lost Ascot, Newbury and Goodwood but I doubt if we'll see those reinstated (and IIRC didn't the Victoria Cup have to be moved from a Wednesday to a Saturday when C4 took over Ascot and dropped the midweek coverage?).

There was one released on the day they confirmed that Matt Chapman would be part of the team.

It is basically all the Saturdays that they are not on ITV, plus Good Friday, The Dante meeting, the Thursday and Friday of the St Leger meeting, the Friday and Sunday of the Open, the Chester May festival, the Welsh Grand National and a selection of Fridays at Newmarket.

ITV's plans for post-race interviews with jockeys http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/n...ith-itv-racing

Don't know if it's just me but I actively dislike the racetrack interviews with trainers and jockeys........I usually hit the mute button or flick over channels

They're so non-interesting and predictable.

Before the race every horse is a nice type with an each way chance

After the race he's a nice type and was given a great ride but we don't know where his next race will be until I speak to the owners........so why do you ask me the same question every time

I'd much rather they interviewed the jockeys on the fancied horses that finished 6th and 10th and asked them what went wrong

I can't stand the long pole/mic waving/walking into people jockey interviews straight after races.

Where is the equivalent of the Morning Line going to air.

As ITV has 9.25am issue.

Or will it be on ITV4

It was announced as ITV4.

I Suspect Grand National etc will air on ITV1. 9.25am issue not really as much now as ITV fully own the breakfast slot.

I'd be happy to have the Morning Line on later......say 11AM or 'floating' and starting an hour before the first race

they could be more up to date as regards non runners, odds, weather and going, inspections etc

C4 will not show racing on Sat 31 Dec.

Per Media Guardian - first Saturday with no terrestrial coverage "in recent memory":

ITV Racing has launched a Twitter account.
Only one Tweet so far.

That time is a bit in no man's land. It is too early for the purpose suggested above and much too late for information related to the opening early prices - which was the point of having it at 8am which it was for many years on C4. Not much good if you might be setting out a meeting either, but they are probably only thinking of linking to afternoon coverage.

Not sure what the issue is here. In no other sport do you see a live television reporter having to jostle with print journalists to get an interview.

If you're live, whether on TV or radio, you should have priority over people with deadlines which are some hours later.

Can you imagine Sky showing Geoff Shreeves standing around waiting to get the man of the match interview because the Daily Mirror got there first?

This isn't about TV companies throwing their weight around because they are paying, it's simple common sense.

Were Racing UK planning to show the Challow Hurdle meeting on free-to-air with Channel 4 not showing it?

Would have been about right if C4 had planned to go out at Newbury on the 31st and it had been abandoned.
May as well try and go out with a big race then be there to the bitter end.

In his column in today's Racing Post, Lee Mottershead said that Ian Bartlett, will be "the third man" on ITV's commentary team alongside Richard Hoiles and Mark Johnson (like he was under the C4 regime, and previously No.2 at the BBC)

He also mentioned that Simon Holt will be the racecourse commetator at the Cheltenham Festival and Ascot's next 2 jump racing fixtures. It will be a major surprise if he not on racecourse commentary duty for the Grand National and big flat race meetings like the Guineas, Epsom Derby and Royal Ascot meetings.

ITV’s exclusive free-to-air coverage of racing starts with the New Year’s Day meeting at Cheltenham.

Ed Chamberlin introduces live coverage of key trials from the home of jump racing in the UK, ahead of the Cheltenham Festival in March.

The coverage marks racing’s return to ITV for the first time in 32 years, kick-starting a new four-year deal to show UK horse racing on terrestrial television encompassing live broadcasts of almost 100 days of racing each year - including 41 days on the main channel.

Taking centre stage on New Year’s Day will be the Grade 2 Relkeel Hurdle and the Grade 2 Dipper Novices' Chase. Oli Bell will present live racing from Musselburgh to complement the action from Prestbury Park.

Expert analysis and comment comes from Sir Anthony McCoy, Luke Harvey and Mick Fitzgerald, with contributions from Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton and weather expert Lucy Verasamy, and commentary from Richard Hoiles.
