Peter Lawwell has confirmed that Celtic would vote for a 14 team SPL if there was a top 6/bottom 8 split.

Lawwell is well placed to recognise 'opportunistic and divisive' tactics when he sees them, and would have a brass neck to complain at any other clubs behaving in such a way.

Bringing your foot forward is not the same as diving as Mark suggested Stokes had done.
Of course all this is in the understanding that in that second, as Stokes is 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper, in the final seconds of a cup final, with your team 1-0 down, in that second what Stokes is doing is looking down, waiting for the defender to stick his leg in such a position that he can move his foot forward in the hope...the hope, that the ref gives a penalty, that is then scored. All in the space of that one second! That is what you are claiming?

A defender sticks a leg out, it seems an ingrained reaction with some forwards to try and initiate contact with it, whether it's actually the most sensible thing to do. See leg out, initiate contact and dive, that's really what it seemed, and not at all difficult to contemplate.

What's the idea behind the six and eight split then.
3 times meeting gives 39 games another 5 after the split for the top 6 and another 7 for the bottom.
Interesting theory as the top 6 tends to be same 5 each year Celtic, Rangers, Dundee United, Motherwell, Hearts and a Gatecrasher that varies each year.

As both I and pedro have said it is in the last minute of a cup en when Celtic are 1-0 down, at that point when you've knocked the ball past the keeper who is on the ground you slot the ball home, you don't dive in the hope that the referee, remember it was Collum, gives a penalty which you then have to score against a keeper having what will probably go down as the best match of his career.

Hmm, that is like saying that if an attacker goes across a defender so the defender makes contact and a foul is committed then the attacker is diving.

2 times meeting (H and A) - then the split Top 6 (H+A) Bottom 8 (H+A) - Top 6 end up with a 36 game season, bottom 8 with a 40 game season followed by playoffs for some of the wee teams.
Celtic would support this because it would give us 2 less games a season which is what Lawwell wants - it would also likely keep the 4 Glasgow derby games should there not be a NewCo or Punishment for Rangers.
Of course there will be some clubs that will no vote for this, as it now has Lawwell's name to it and will reduce their slice of the tv deal, on top of removing at least one chance to fleece away fans of Celtic and possibly Rangers.

Interesting revelation with the new Sky/ESPN deal, although there is a clause in case either Celtic or Rangers leave the SPL for whatever reason, there is no clause to provide 4 derbies a season according to STV.

Stokes loses control of the ball with a heavy touch this is when he decides to throw himself to the ground - as Hartson put it he "delayed his dive".
Celtic fans can't have it both ways and were quick to brand Aluko a cheat when he did something similar not too long ago ... thing is nobody can see this contact from the actual video footage and that is what I would prefer to go with as that is what was broadcast on the day rather than a still image plucked from thin air.

Buckie have it in them to win but Forres are a nightmare to break down and if Forres score first they should win.

A 14 team SPL is essentially just a slightly worse version of what we already have as far as I'm concerned - imagine being 7th in the league after 26 games and having to play out another 14 meaningless games for 4 months? The 5 bottom six games are bad enough as it is (unless you're in a relegation battle).
If it makes any sense at all it should be a "top 8" / "bottom 6" setup because at least then you'd be cutting down the number of teams stuck in no man's land.
