Have been trying to connect an old panasonic NV-HD630B to a panasonic analogue tv and digibox.

The channels are all there but video will not play or record.

The letters LL have appeared on the vcr display and can't get rid of it.

Have followed a diagram found on DIGITAL TV GROUP website and have scarts from digi to tv and digi to vcr.

Main aeriel into digi and 2 other aeriel leads from tv to vcr and digi to vcr.

How do I get rid of LL and have I got cables in correct slots as the diagram does not show if should go to av1 or av2?

Don't know the first thing about all this.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I could be wrong, it's been quite a while since I had a VCR.

Just thought, if your digibox has 2 scart sockets -

Aerial into digibox

Scart 1 to VCR
Scart 2 to TV

You shouldn't need aerial cables going to the VCR or TV only the digibox, there are no analogue signals anymore so the TV and VCR won't get a signal from the aerial, the digibox is digital so picks up the digital signal from the aerial and then outputs it through scart/hdmi etc.

South Yorkshire may be fully digital but that does not mean the OP is. If they live in London or the south east for instance there are still analogue broadcasts to watch, for a few weeks anyway

To be honest haggis hunter I would forget about the VCR unless you have a monster collection of tapes you need to watch. If you do live in a post DSO area then using a simple digibox is not going to be the most convenient way to record digital telly. If nothing else the killer is not being able to watch, say, BBC 3 while recording ITV 4 at the same time. You can only watch and record the same channel.

Much easier if the intention is to record digital TV is to buy a PVR. and give the VCR an honourable retirement. But if you are determined to persevere with it...

On the back of the digibox look at how the SCARTs are labeled. It is common for one to be labeled TV and the other VCR. Which should give you a clue as to what goes where On the back of the VCR look again at the SCARTs. There should be a square symbol next to the socket that has one or more arrows across one edge.

If the arrow points into the square it is an input to the VCR. If it points out of the square then it is an output from the VCR. Two arrows, or a double headed one, mean the socket is both input and output. Ideally you need to connect to an input/output socket so that you can both record from the digibox and play back tapes.

If it has two sockets and they are one in and one out then you can record or play but not very easily as you would need to swap sockets depending on what you wanted to do. Or find a splitter that takes one SCART and splits it into one record and one play plug.

Assuming you find an appropriate socket to record from the digibox you need to select the SCART you are using as the source. It might call it AV, Line, L, Ext or something like that possibly with a number if there are more than one socket.

For replay it should be as simple as turn on the VCR and press Play. SCART has a switching signal that should tell the digibox to feed the VCR output up to the TV automatically. So you watch both on the same SCART input on the telly.

Thanks chrisjr.

We do still have analogue here. Bought a PVR but live amongst trees so digital signal poor, hence wanting to keep vcr for as long as possible.

Would love to try your suggestions but, until we can get rid of the LL that has appeared on the Panasonic vcr display, the tape won't run in any way.

Hope someone will come up with what LL stands for and how to remove it. Have tried typing the query in Google but couldn't find anything.

Thanks again.
