It's people like this who are causing the majority of problems! And when you have morons running the country what can you expect.

An absolute insane idea.

Shouldn't even make petrol cars never mind.
Can't see what is gained by using petrol, the world would be a safer place without.

You don't get petrol wagons do you, well never seen one.
Wonder Why?.
But the Government are telling people to do that..........they couldn't possibly being giving out the wrong information could they!

I am horrified and disgusted that this revolting man has again won an election by peddling idealism through old-style charisma and demagoguery. He's a throwback to the times when magnetic personalities could lead people to their doom by preaching what they want to hear. CBB showed what a vile cove Galloway is (a man who claims to support the oppressed yet who endorsed the bullying of a housemate without the blink of an eyelid), but I already knew--because the footage of him sucking up to Saddam Hussein (not just meeting him, sucking up) is seared on my memory like a sore.

Yet, despite feeling aghast at the Bradford result, I do see a glimmer of hope in it. I won't be the only one to notice that the sweeping rejection of the three main parties opens up a prospect for independent and single-issue candidates to garner a much larger protest vote than normal at the next General Election. If such candidates make serious inroads into the expect result (Conservatives up, Labour up, Libs obliterated), it might disturb the complacency of the old firm, at least in the short term.

There's a theory that the persistence of the petrol car results from the financial interests of the oil companies and the vehicle manufacturers, who are said to be hand-in-hand. I've also read that motor manufacturers consistently buy up the patents for non-gas vehicles and fuelling systems in order to mothball them.

I never buy into the cries that disaster will follow if the oil runs out. Human beings are perfectly capable of adapting, if they have no choice, and will find other ways of getting around.

Stocking up is the natural result of supply-and-demand. The more people buy petrol, the less the supply, so you have to get out there and make sure you have enough fuel for Easter, or for work, or whatever. It's no good carrying on "as normal" and then turning up at the garage to find they've run out.

I recently learned that the element strontium was discovered in Scotland. And guess what its scientific abbreviation is: Sr! Joy. Apparently, it is highly reactive. Now I can't wait for the question to come up on University Challenge.

OK, I've put the world to rights: off to plant some freesias. Bloody parky here today (50°F, after 70 plus yesterday).

I agree but my point was that if people like the lady in question keep clogging up the forecourts, others see queues and assume that the fuel is about the run out. She'd only driven from the petrol station to her home, and back again, between refills.

I've just seen Ed on the news, suggesting that his party need to spend some time in Bradford to find out 'what went wrong'.

If all the garages have massive increases in fuel sales this month it just happens to be the end of the 1st quarter vat figures and all these sales will have to go to the tax man next month, sounds a very clever idea to me to boost the coffers.

Not sure why people are queuing though, the strike isn't even on yet, crazy.
The people that need it won't get any because those that don't use any have full tanks sitting on the drive.

The government are trying to get everyone full before the strike so they don't need any when the strike is on but it doesn't work like that.

A Diesel car will run on anything within reason, it certainly doesn't need fuel out of the ground.

If everyone had carried on as normal there wouldn't have been a problem, panic buying is the problem, nothing else.

It's very quiet in here.
Hope everyone isn't in a queue for fuel.

I've almost done my work for today.
Got picked up at the car park this morning when i arrived at 9.55.
Went for brekki at 10.30.
Hate to miss that.

------
The boss was just telling me about a feller when the last fuel strike was on.
He stockpiled a load of jerry cans or petrol cans of petrol.
In the winter he put a little heater in the garage for the cat.
It knocked the heater over and a container had been leaking petrol. it blew the car up and the roof off the garage.
The insurance wouldn't pay out as he had stored petrol.

when we lived in Nigeria we stored a 10litre can of petrol in the spare bathroom - for emergencies....kept the window open and the door shut, knew it was dangerous but infinitely preferable to have enough fuel to reach the border in case of emergency...crazy way to live though....

I'm assuming Litts that your procedure doesn't involve blood letting, and that even if it does, your veins will be more cooperative than mine having had lots of practice in the last few years
I have every sympathy with you. They don't have much trouble getting blood from me, but they do have trouble finding the vein. but the blood nurses at my local hospital are just like your Phleb nurse, they don't need to look for the vein, they know where it is and just go straight for it after a brief feel. My worst time was when my groschon line had become infected and I was hospitalised and the male arab doctor in his late 20s spent an hour attacking various parts of my body, including my groin. He was stubborn and wouldn' t let my veins defeat him. At one stage he asked me I was sure he couldn't try my right arm. I said it was up to him but the oncologists told me I should not. Eventually at 9pm at night he gave up. The phleb nurse the next day took one minute to get it.

In the proper containers, and with a bit of brain and understanding of what is in the container and kept in the correct place at the correct temperature it may be ok.

These plastic containers they use now should be banned, they are useless for petrol
