I've had similar issues Honey with the Benefits office - on one occasion when I actually took the claimant to the office and sat with her, helped her fill in the forms and watched as they were accepted and stamped. The girl who took the details was so dozy she probably wiped it all the second we left the seat. It's infuriating that there seems to be little or no recourse.

Where is all the heat getting in from?
I'm no expert, but I hazard a guess at 'the outside'?
Tried to rescue my quote.

My question would make a lot more sense if people understood the workings of heating and Air Con.

It is usually understood that if a house/room is hard to heat when a heater is on and the losses are usually through the window glass or bad fitting frames or through outside walls that let the heat escape to the outside.

The same goes for Air Con which is a lot more expensive to use than heating.

If the Air Con isn't able to reach the setting of the thermostat then either the unit may burn out or it will never shut off, this could be either because the thermostat is set too cool or the warm air is getting into the house/room by some means which is hindering the cooling, this hindrance will be very expensive if you have to pay the bill yourself.

Morning Hicky
The AC is not efficient for all of the reasons you list above, the house is large and not particularly well built...we have gaps large enough to allow in quite a lot of the local wildlife, I suspect it's not much of a barrier to the relentlessly hot air outside
.....this house has individual units in each room which run for many hours at a time, the only problems we have are with them leaking, or running out of coolant and that is mainly due to incompetent installation/servicing
Balders-ing again this morning then Thai lesson this afternoon, 'citin'..woot
Jojo, thanks for the offer re the De puy joint, I'll bear it in mind

psychrometry

It its proper air con then you can't just go on heat in/out you have to account for keeping the humidity at the correct level - which is in fact the main purpose of air con

Morning
I am not a happy bunny, doc wants to do nasty things to my knee a high tibial osteotomy and a maquet...I have googled both and now feel slightly sick - and this was supposed to be the guy who's not surgery-happy ie the minimalist, non-invasive specialist.
Anyone know any orthopaedic specialists for an opinion on this lot??
....off to go sob quietly in a corner...

Morning halla

I have just goggled also the surgeon obviously thinks surgery is necessary and the real answer to your problem and knows what he is talking about but of course you can always get a second opinion if you think there may be another way round getting rid of the knee problem. I can understand your trepidation and I suppose it has come as a bit of a shock to you.

Then again you would probably complain if we never had a Nation Health Service, and after the op you would more than likely complain your toast was overdone. Moan moan moan, if you dont want the op just tell them to chop your leg off and be done with it.

Good morning everyone, I am a new user so be very gentle with me.

It's always better to be sure of your facts, I find - halla doesn't live in this country. Just saying..........

Welcome to Lurkers anyway.

Halla is in Thailand so is beyond the reach of the national health service. Have you been lurking long?
