Beyonce's sales
habanala

Any one else surprised that her biggest selling single in the UK (If i were a boy) has only sold 680,000?
I thought surely she must of had a million seller! She has had some great songs throughout the years im quite disappointed with those figures!

Dont forget that while Beyonce is a big popstarlet, she did sell over a million copies of that album too due to the exposure she had of that particular song and X Factor performance too.

Beyonce has sold very decent sales across her career. And dont forget those that do sell massively singles wise can also not sell as many albums (see Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez etc)

So it all depends...but anything over half a million is really impressive for singles sales especially in the current environment too

Josh summed it up really

Beyonce is one of the very few people in Pop who can still sell an album well.

The likes of Madonna have never had a million seller whilst others such as the teletubbies have its no indicator of someone's talent and 680,000 is a solid number and a platinuim certificate

I am in no way saying it has anything to do with talent! Im just surprised none of her songs have sold a million, If i were a boy, Single ladies and Crazy in love were huge!

A lot of Beyonce's big hits were from the time in the mid-00's when single sales were really low. Other MASSIVE hits from that time like Hung Up, Toxic, even Umbrella, didn't sell that much either.

Your right, Umbrella sold around 600,000 aswell and was number one for ten weeks! 5 songs last year sold over a million and Moves Like Jagger didnt even get to number one. I always hear that people are not buying music anymore and just illegally downloading but that doesnt seem to be the case!

The top 3 on the chart i watched were single ladies then telephone then if i were a boy so all 3 have sold around the 500,000 - 680,000

In the UK Crazy In Love is certified Silver meaning it has sold 200k and 400k copies.

In the US it is Gold meaning it has shipped/been downloaded between 500k and 1m times.

It is platinum in Australia and New Zealand, but you only need to sell 70k/15k copies respectively to do that there.
